Momacs Account Talk

Hi Tom,
It seems to be working fine now. Thanks

Well I made my IFT back to mostly G. Left a bit in the C and I just in case. haha. So I've managed to lock in more losses. No more moves for January. If you all want, since I am MurphyMoMacs, you can take the contrarian move and go totally in since I always seem to go the wrong way. :toung:

I've been reading threads going back through to the beginning of 2008. It's almost like reading a novel. I keep the tsp share prices up so I can keep track of what's going on while I read the threads. I was rooting for you all to make the right guesses on the markets. It's hard to believe the amount of money that has been lost. I sure hope this year is better but it's not starting off to well.

Looks like we're going all the way down. This is going to hurt!!!!

I could just kick myself, I had written on my note board "if s&p closes at 850, go 100% G quickly" why oh why didn't I listen to myself.

Oh, and I made a mistake in the previous post, I left a bit in the c and the s funds. I didn't have any in the I fund

I have a question, what is the official cut off time for IFT transfers? I have seen some that are made after 11am central time. Do they count for that day? Thanks

An IFT made after the deadline of 12 noon EST or 11 AM Central time is effective COB the next day.

:) I have observed some interesting yet conflicting results in that area. Officially, I believe that it's stated that all moves put in that day before 12:00 Noon EST then that should be processed thnat night.
However, that has not always been correct in either direction of the clockhand, ie I've put 1 maybe 2 moves in after lunch, noon, and they were processed, several others were put in between 11:00 - 11:30 am
and they didn't happen until the day after. My rule of thumb is to have it in an hour early and then you're pretty safe.
I've been 100% vested since day 1 in the gov. since Feb. '92. I've been doing this daily IFT stuff and have kept a daily log of these since 1997. Just to give you an ideal of time vested, but my brother who's Commerce Dept. in charge of DOD deals he said years ago that the moves made I make today won't take effect on the screen until 2 days later? I respect my brother and the awesome job he has with DOC but the results have I've gotten, pretty much are as I alluded to earlier. My rule of thumb is to have it in an hour early and then you're pretty safe.

Have any of you heard of Charles Nenner? He was on cnbc today and says that the market should start going up shortly until in april or may and then head back down. Here's his website where he has done interviews on tv.

Yeah, I saw that interview. I was a little skeptical when Mark Haines asked him how often his cycle was right, and he said... always.

Mark said, then why don't you own the world? He said, "I'm not American". I'm just a researcher and I just need to eat.

He said the next intermediate-term bottom would be made next week. We'll see.

His site say he will be on Bloomberg today at 5 EST "Taking Stock"

That interview didn't cover much but the guys seems very confident in his method. Said he made 30% last year.

I just watched him on Bloomberg. I guess that tape will be on his site shortly. He's calling for a rally through March then another sell off.

Here is an interview from Dec 2007, http://charlesnenner.com/inthenews-2007-12-06.html He was wrong about 08. Called for up and down 10-15% ending flat.

I saw the Bloomberg interview also. So, between the two interviews, his predictions are for a low in stocks in the next week, with a rally into March, then another move down, as you said.

He also said oil will bottom and begin to rally again in 2 to 3 weeks. I believe he said commodities are at a bottom right now.

You sure he wasn't shorting the market?:suspicious:

Did anyone catch Art Cashin (I think that's his name) talk about Charles Nenner. He said that he has quite the following or something like that.

The way I took Nenner's 2007 interview about the market in 2008, he thought there'd be a 15% drop but then he said it could drop more, but he didn't elaborate about it.

Did anyone see the latest article on the FedSmith website. And the replies to it. Not too many happy people with the tsp.

Here was my posting:

"We, the 3000+ that frequently transfer money from one fund to another, warned you that the FRTIB was lying to you! We told you that the FRTIB advice to "buy and hold" the stock funds was the wrong thing to do. But you didn't listen. If your TSP account is down 40% or more, you have no one to blame but yourself! You should have managed your account better!

We told you you needed the ability to move your funds around more than twice per month. We told you the frequent interfund transfers (IFT) were not costing you more money! Have you looked at the minutes of the FRTIB meetings lately? They now admit that limiting IFT's has NOT resulted in a savings to the TSP shareholders that do not move their funds around. Will you now join us and demand the return of our ability to manage our own accounts? I doubt it, because like mushrooms, too many of you are content being left in the dark, covered in the excrement heaped upon you by people who could care less if you retire comfortably! The FRTIB!"

Let's see if FEDSMITH will allow that posting to stand!:suspicious:

Nice letter Migra,
thanks for taking the time to help set the record strait.
