Medic72's Account Talk

here I go again with a question that i think i know the answer to but i want to get everyones opinions.

i hit the perfect time to leave the g fund, i got in at about 668 on the C or so i think, not sure.

anyway, seeing that i am still way above the mark where i got in, should i just hang out and wait for it to go back up? OR should I just move it all back to G, take the profit and wait for it to start going up again? (i don't want to miss the next upturn)

second question, i have more shares of the stocks now, and as long as i don't swap funds i haven't lost anything right? (well as long as they go back up :) )

thanks for allowing me to post these questions, no one has ever tried to flame my posts so I'm pretty comfortable with laying them out there.

Medic - Nice work on your end. No one knows how markets will react with the earnings season. I'm in 50/50 hoping for a continued run of this bear rally, but keeping half of my powder dry to use in case we go down. I think the decision is yours. GL:)

Medic72, In a previous email, 03/27, I mentioned that I got in on 16 Mar also and asked, "....what is the exit point?" That was a question to you.......anyone reading and pondering myself.

I am still in and wondering just like you. I don't want to sound like a pessimist because I also believe in the power of positive thought...but it sure seems that there is a ton of information out there and very few people who agree on much of it. People enter and exit every day. I realize if it was more predictable that everyone would be rich but I really thought if I became more informed/educated, I would at least have some idea/plan on entry and exit points. It was not my intent when I first started reading this MB but I am currently leaning more towards long term and buy and hold.
It seems timing the market and TSP with limited IFT's and noon cutoff really makes it more of an issue of luck than well planned analisys of data.

I confidently entered a March Madness group with 10 brackets. I watched games, did research, studied coaches polls, past performance, talked to longterm enthusiasts etc, etc. My wife has never watched a college basketball game in her life and pretty much made random choices. I let her make picks for 1 of the 10 brackets. Her picks were #5 below. I had UNC winning it all and so did she but she picked Michigan St. for the final and I didn't on any of my picks...........She beat my best bracket picked by 3 points. :embarrest: I am considering using her random selections for my TSP entry and exits points and see what happens............Is that a plan or what!?!?

Like WorkFE has advised.......I probably shouldn't be "playing" with money I need in the fall for a loan anyway and should let it ride in G.

Medic, Nice job.

To answer your question is not that easy since there a many variables. First how many IFT's do you have? If you still have two then you could pull back into G and still have an opportunity to get back into the race when the rally starts again this month. If less than two then you could pull back to G any percentage and leave some in C to do <1% moves until you have new IFT's in May. Bottom line is going to be what you are comfortable with on the loss side.

Now you have to remember that when you sell your C shares back to G you are selling the C shares at $9.5083 a share and purchasing shares into G at $12.8282 a share. For every 4 shares of C sold will purchase 3 shares of G.

Hope this helped a little. Good Luck.

Yeah in the real fund, i've had 25 G, 40 C and 35 S since 16 march i think.

I had to run away from the computer today between 11:30 and 12:00 because i really wanted to let it keep riding.

The tracker is still at 50c/50s, i really wanted to match them up but had to leave some safe in the G for now.

I have a question about the percentages on the tracker, how does he get the daily return % they never add up to my calculations.

Take todays total minus yesterdays total then divide by yesterdays total.
105,000.00 - 100,000.00 = 5,000.00 / 100,000.00 = .05 5.00%
