Following rule #2 I am starting this. After 10 years of contributing the max to the TSP and letting it sit in C/S/I I have done ok, but missed a LOT of opportunities. I signed up here and figured its time to more actively control my TSP. Right now shifted to 100% C.... we will see how it goes from here.

Figured it was time to update this. I have been spending huge amounts of time on this forum since 3/12, probably about twice a day, more recently. Regardless, still not very good at it all, but working on it. Based on recent chatter on the forums I figured I would at least post a few disclaimers for my account:
1) 2012 was partial in autotracker, so I wasnt quite that bad
2) what i post to auto tracker is what i am doing to my TSP, its the real high stakes game.
3) if you follow what I do you are pretty foolish, I am not that good.
4) I really think i should follow birchtree. see who is #2 on autotracker?? not him, but the s fund...

I will probably make a move today. I have kid #2 due any minute now, actually yesterday was my wife's due date, but would like to adjust my position before that, not sure how much internet access I will have for the next few days.... maybe i should stay where i am now, about half in half out. S and C have been holding above the 30day SMA, so that keeps me happy, if they fall below I usually get out, they are doing good.

we will see what happens today.

We might be near the bottom, and if congress passes anything it will bounce. But the market moves down fast, and up slow (elevator down, stairs up). we still are going down, not sure where we will turn, but I will get off now.

Hope to get back in early next month. let the sequester happen, then stabalize, then get in.

oh goody, a drop like today would have pushed me to 100%G. I was going to pull the portion I had in I to G anyways, silly move to go in there.

BUT I got stuck on the phone doing, god forbid, actual work and missed the deadline. Guess I will ride this pony for another 24 hours. cooooomon dip buyers!

The logic in me does tell me that this was larely news driven, which means it usually doesnt stick. we will see. at 12% this year I missed a lot, but did way better than inflation.

I think that we need to have our yearly % change listed next to our names (like post count), makes it easier to know if we should listen to the person or not at 12%, dont listen to me.

haha a valid argument! I am TDY for the rest of the week, so without much time to watch the market, i dont want to really get out if needed... so maybe i will get out and jjust hope that was the right choice.

i usually like to watch the market relative to a few different SMA's when the market gets below them its time to get out. Of course this usually means I have already gone down with the market, but sometimes its going farther south. The market usually goes down faster than it goes up (elevator down, stairs up). its the conservative approach, between that and being out of touch for a few days, its an ok move. Aside from that, if we get this negativee swing saying its WMD, when a few TLAMs hit, the market will go down again... right?

Most is being pulled to G now, might change before the cutoff tomorrow... depends on the travel and the market...
