Historically the S fund tends to do good in the last quarter of the calendar year.
I will keep that in mind, the S fund has a lot of like commercial companies right? And with the holidays this must be why it does okay. I guess.
Yes it is small caps and medium caps it is basically all the companies in the Dow Jones minus the S&P 500. A lot of retailers are in the S Fund and does well if we have a Santa Claus rally.
The S Fund is down -0.93 % for the year according to the TSP Talk Auto Tracker.

Why do you say that? This week has been looking good so far. What does a Santa rally look like to you? Gains of > 2% daily? C, S & I Funds turning positive for the month/year?
For me it would look like this. A positive week for a change after all that downfall. It would then be followed by continued downward momentum after the SC rally finishes. The only question is when does it finish? This week or next?Left the rally early. A three day increase is so rare. After I saw two good days I bailed. But market supposedly has history of doing well today and tomorrow. That would be shocking given this year. Can we see four up days in a row?

Yes, given any other time this year I would have said four up days in a row would be too much to ask for, but I think the seasonality here is too strong to fight right now. Then again, maybe we should call it 3.5 days. Isn't the market only open half a day on Christmas eve?I think the market reflects the consumer’s outlook on the economy. Most do not have a positive outlook this is reflective in sales. I’m still buying and holding the market will bounce back. I just don’t know when.

The market certainly was negative for December but I still came out 1.92% ahead by not getting in till the 18th. Looks like the SC rally ended on Dec 29 and we are back to heading on down. At this point I have no idea how long it will last or when I'll get out. I'm currently still in for the ride.How much longer can this bull market last?
