MARKET WATCH

imported post

Coolhand, loved the stock term reference you gave. It looks like the sub may be out of torpedoes, not sure how much longer it can stay submerged before having to surface and face a losing battle. Tom in his daily comments has said it all. Futures indicate we are going lower to start the day. I was watching bull riding yesterday and in the final go round the bulls scored 10 and the cowboys 0. Seldom does that happen, but it relates to what happened to those of us invested in stocks last week. Sometimes we just have to take our medicine knowing that things will get better. Wishing the best for us all this week. Have a great one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Midmorning update. It looks like the sub has emerged, but is not ready to surrender. It may be a while yet before the Captain says "Abandon Ship". They are using all their remaining weapons to keep control of the sub.

New lows compared to new highs are running 11:1. Volumn is decent. New lows over Friday and today indicate we are getting really close to a change in the subs direction.

Subs were never meant to fight on the surface. The question now is, will they continue to fight or turn tail and try to escapeto get back to more friendly waters.

For those who may wonder how I'm invested - 30% - C, 70% - S. I just remembered an old poem that was given to me when I graduated from high school. I thought ya'll might find it worth reading, it has served me well over the years:

IF
by Rudyard Kipling

If you can keep your head when all about you
are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
but make allowances for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
or, being hated don't give way to hating,
and yet don't look too good, nor talk to wise;

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you think you can think - and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet Triumph and Disaster
and treat those two imposters just the same:
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
and stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
and risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
and lose, and start again at your beginnings,
and never breathe a word about your loss:
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
to serve your turn long after they are gone,
and so hold on when there is nothing in you
except the Will which says to them: "Hold On!"

If you can walk with crowds and keep your virtue,
or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
If neither foe nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
with sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it.

The saga continues. The sub is still a float. It shows signs of becoming battle weary, but it may have been holding back its' remaining ammo for one last barrage before giving up the ghost. It islike a wounded snake, striking out at anything that moves. Was todays antics just a plot to lure us in closeror is it time for the bears to hibernate for a while.

There were some positives to todays finishing numbers, but also some negatives. The markets never give you what you want when you want it.

I'm telling you, the marketsare like a women, you'll neverunderstand them completely, men that is, so you might as wellnot worry about them too much.The markets always seem to hold the trump card and will play it when you least expect it, for better or worst.

p.s. I do not mean the above to be offensive to the females among us. Just the way life is and I think it wassuppose to be this way, to keep man humble.

I think I would be correct in saying that the Stock Market Is simply unpredictable.:l

And more correct in saying that it is predictable.:D

That is the stock market.:oo

Seeing as how there may be a vague reference from the word `granny' to the name`Grandma,' I would like to state CSI is NOT refering to me - And while the dances at my grandson's Houston Wedding werenearly identicalto the antics seen in the .gif above, I am a pretty good dancer - That is not to say should the TSP return suddenly add 1K to my account - and leave it there - I could Very Easily mimic these steps, as I did do at the wedding!! I don't have that outfit, tho. Grandmothers at weddings are - well - elegant !!!

I looked in the forest awhile ago and could only find a few bears roaming about. They looked a little tired and sleepy. Maybe they want to join their hibernating friends. On the other hand, I looked in the valley and saw the bulls romping and stomping and generally having a good time.

The markets so fartoday have shown good follow thru volumnto the upside and advancers have outpaced decliners nicely. Even the new lows to new highs have been encouraging.

Was the selloff experienced last week overdone?????????? Emotions play a large part in what the market does!!!!!!!! Where do we go from here???????????????? Maybe the monkey can tell us...................................................................................

grandma, granny does not refer to you. When I post anything to or about a specific person I will so state. If anyone finds a resemblance to them in my pics, itmust be ones on perception. I try very hard not to get personal with my posts. I try to provide a lighter side to what may or is happening in the market place. As always,it isjust me rambling on. Ya'll feel free to make any comments, positive that is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heading into the last hr of trading today, I expect to see the remaining bears step in and try to take us lower for the day, but they are doomed for failure. Can you smell thegreen coming your way if you are invested in the 'CSI' funds, no pun intended.

Like thecute little country singer that says inher song "Redneck Woman", "He__ Yea !!!!!!"

Now all we need is some good follow thru earnings tonight and tomorrow. The Feds Beige Book report tomorrow afternoon shouldbe just a reflection ofthe last report, so it should not cause any problems.

so - what kind of work do you do...

The weather is lookin' better! Just an old civil servant from the SOUTH! Down here that could mean lots of things. Today was BEACH TIME under the money tree!:l

I think we got it! Intel and Yahoo reports were impressive. The bears who are short may bescrambling Wednesday to cover. Could be a big day (unless I say it will be, so I won't ). ;)

Good move Tom. Intel& Yahoo should give us the jump-start we need in the morning. If most of the rest reporting are fair to good, it should be an interesting day. I think the report from the Fed Beige Book will be a none event tomorrow afternoon or wemay be in for a pleasant surprize, by an indication that they may skip raising rates next go round. I do not think that will happen, but as long as I'm dreaming, might as well dream BIG!!!!!!!!! If oil and gas inventories are better or close to predictions, then our marbles may fall into place.I almost do not want to see a rise back too fast, but if it happens I'll be moving some to the sidelines.Last week really put a damper on things. I know I'm dreaming and when I get to feeling this good the results can be unpredictable.I thought about not doing a reply to you. Don't want to awake the hibernating bears. If I had not gotten so caught up in what was going on last week, I would have bailed and missed the slaughter Friday. I completely forgot that it was option settlement and with what happened Tues, Wed, & early Thurs. it should have rang a loud get out of dodge. Anyway, "Forgetting the past and pressing on with the work at hand". Hope I never quitlearning !!!!!!!!!!!

Updated. Most important companies reporting earnings after the bell today had higher profits and expect the 2nd quarter to be good also. Quite now. Don't want any alarms going off.

Spring is here. The grass is turning green, the trees are putting out new green growth and flowers are starting to bloom. Could it be, will it be or will Murphys' Law come into play to try and upset things. All indicators point to you counting your money by the end of the day.

imported post

In my previous post I failed to indicate if you would be counting your gains or what you have left after the day is done, I guessit depends on where you are invested. On days like today I feel like this...................................waiting for something to happen, for the better I hope !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will the Fed's Beige Book support or go astray from the inflation figures reported in the CPI this morning??? I think they will stay the course, .25% increase. I think nothing much has changed to warrant a larger increase.
