Luv2Read's Account Talk

Hiya Everyone,

Grats on the 10k post Norm, and no those are not my kittehs, I visit the LOLCATS site regularly. There's a whole library of uncaptioned sweeties to have fun with.

Notice that govexec.com, fedsmith, et al are pouring more oil on the waters with "calming" articles about TSP not being in any danger from mortgage securities investments - that none of our money is in that..just keep doing that B&H dance folks. Yet Long said in an article awhile back that TSP does indeed have holdings in those vehicles and went on to explain how the Freddy/Fanny bailout is a "good thing" for TSP....gf. And I don't mean go figure either.:toung::nuts::mad:

They're always trying to lull people into complacency.

Hey there all my TSPTalk friends of many years,

WELL!! It's been YEARS. To catch everyone up, my Dad became ill in 2009 and went into a decline. My husband had a heart attack in February 2010, Dad died March 2010 while hubs was still in the hospital, and Mom died 2 weeks after Dad. I resigned (forced out) from federal employment in 2010 so just let things ride in TSP, I just didn't have time to keep up with daily monitoring. Return has been excellent, I don't think I could have done better. My husband died 7/15/21 intestate after years of declining health, and I've been swamped with legal and financial issues. He was also a retired fed so when he died our TSPs were combined. O'Biden's activities prompted me to start actively managing my TSP since it had doubled, but I couldn't remember my userID for TSPtalk. I recognized some of my friends' names here and looked through their friend lists and found myself! Tom was kind enough to reactivate the account so...I'm BAAAAAAAAAACK! Thanks to everyone for all the messages while I was "disappeared."

from 2008
Luv2read,
I've been writting a story for my daugter's 16th birthday (next week) and included many 'GEMS' on this MB. You are the last GEM before the crowd enters the dimension that stands on the border of heaven and this is where the story ultimately has its ending. Should you happen to return - I'm just now beginning to capture your character and put it on display.

We've missed you.

Thank you for the lovely tribute! How sweet! Well, I'm back again, 14 years later, after a brief return in 2008-09.

Hey Dear One,
First time in your house. It smells good and has a great atmosphere. Very comfortable, but what I like the most is the intellectual flare.

You're willing to bring a lot of things out in the open - things that "the powers that be" would prefer to be hidden.

We could bring out thousands and thousands of pages of evidence of "wrongful doing" - that would seem criminal in every sense of general intellectual thought. The government has only themselves to answer to - there are no rules they can't make and they operate on a system that is wholly unique to them.

So a lot of things you're bringing out are shocking to me only in the sense that "you are surprized by these findings". The interwoven control over every aspect of our lives has been in play since we were born (and even before that).

If you are toubled now; WAIT UNTIL WE GO TO A PAPERLESS MONEY SYSTEM. Then the 1099s and everything else won't matter anymore. Whatever you have ANYWHERE - will be tallied - and they will draw as they see fit and there is nothing you (or anyone else can do) to stop it.

I'm not saying this to alarm you or put you in a sour mood. I'm telling you to enjoy what you have - enjoy the way things are as they currently exist - because it could be a whole lot worse.
GET READY FOR IT, we're almost there. Already it's direct deposit of paychecks, refunds, etc.; buy online, credit/debit cards, cryptos/digital coin. During the height of COVID, fast food joints were asking us to pay in COIN, not use credit cards or paper, because there was a coin shortage. What a coincidence - fewer people spending, so fewer coins in circulation, but that works both ways. Fewer people getting change, would mean more available, right? So why a shortage? Banks hoarding coins, that's why. The lockdown was the perfect time to put the all-digital plans in motion. This, from 2021: "The US Mint announced they will end production of the US Penny starting in 2023, citing the high cost of production and the penny's decreasing value. The US Mint announced this morning that they will phase out the production of new pennies beginning in late 2022, and mint the last batch of pennies on April 1, 2023." However, they have no problem spending a billion or two on new Tubman and other PC bills.

The penny's decreasing value? So a penny saved is no longer a penny earned?

Hello again! How many of my friends are still active here? WOW Tom, this new system is going to take some getting used to, y'all please bear with me! :)
Remember this post from 2022?

So, has anyone seen any 2024 pennies, or did the mint actually stop making pennies on April 1, 2023?

As promised, I looked through my most recent jar of extra change. I started looking at all the shiny pennies and most where 2022. Until I found this one.
