JTH's Account Talk

Other great news, I'll be paying off my TSP loan this month, in one large lump sum, meaning I'll be dropping a boat-load of cash into my account all at once...
Way to go, Jason!!! Buy low and then rally as we dig our way out of this hole.

Not to be picky, but the traditional pattern (as I know it) calls for the 3 candles to overlap one another. In this specific case, we have 2 concurrent runaway gaps. Now I can't speak to the gaps, this would require further investigation, but I must admit, I'm not a gap specialist.

Three White Soldiers
Yeah I see the gaps in the C Fund. I was looking in the S Fund not the C that you were in::cool:

According to that page, the following would indicate the "gaps" disqualify the recent formation.

Each of the three candles is white, tall, opens within the body of the prior candle and closes higher, with a short upper shadow (meaning each white candle closes near the high).
I was looking at the wrong chart.

Thanks friend and you are right, the stats are fairly low for how many days the market will close up in a row. It burned when you told me "Well you certainly have a big hole to dig out of" but you are correct, and it was also 100% my fault for not being in tune with the markets, at the time. But after finally moving into my apartment, getting my PC monitors back, and getting a regular home routine, I'm starting to align myself with the markets.

JTH,
I re-read what I posted and realize that you may have found what I said to be offensive. Please accept my apology as I did not mean to offend. I am very happy for the recent gains you have made and wish you all the best in getting back into positive territory. I should have realized that losses hurt and the last thing you need to hear is someone reminding you of them. Please know I value your perspective on the market and really enjoy your charts. I also read your blogs and enjoy them as well. Again, my apologies. I did not mean to offend.

P.S. Congrats on paying off that TSP loan!:D

another opinion...

when i read your post, i also thought it could be misinterpreted, out of context. but, you are not a mean or gloating person, and it is an honest observation. also jth is a big boy and has utmost integrity and appreciation for truth. one cannot solve a difficulty without first being brutally honest with themselves about the nature and scope of the difficulty.

not speaking for anybody but myself here, but i did not take offense and i doubt anybody else did either. if there is one person on this entire board that i believe can deliberately trade out of a hole, it is jth. and i'm sure he has even more confidence in himself that we do. that is a good thing.

Good morning

What a wonderful 5.31% run-up in just 3 days, putting us at -.69% MTD

I was looking at the wrong chart.

I hear ya - the S fund has been riskier to play for quite awhile now so I can see the 'white soldiers' pattern
happening in that fund.

Everything is bumping up against something in the charts at this point. (there's a detailed analysis for ya)
It should be obvious looking at the charts it's fairly certain the market will be "changing gears" the next couple
of days - Will it go into "Park" or "Reverse"? Could be a move from Overdrive into "First" gear? :drive:

Myself, I will be watching market leaders, the VIX, and of course that wild & crazy guy, Earl. :Eyecrazy:

Good Luck to All!

you got two options: gas or brakes. hammer down wheee or full freakin stop.

i am standing on the brakes with both feet white knuckling the wheel hoping to dog we stop before it hits that wall and the wheels fly off. this will be close. hang on.

either way it goes, this is one hell of a ride.

Don't have much to add here.

1 min chart showing a classic rejection at the red circle where we attempted to get back inside the descending channel. You can also see we have a rounded short-term top, but not all indexes look like this.

Minute Chart?

You're not also one of those Micro-Managers by any chance? :D

Only when I'm trading in my brokerage account, but hey, I'm outta the markets, I just need SPX to close -.16% today, so I can look at myself on the monthly tracker and do my secret happy dance because I passed you up

I find humor in the small things...

Ha ha - but you were ahead of me (this trade) from the get-go.

I entered and lost a few % before the rally really started from the bottom.

However, now that I know your disposition as soon as I get ahead I will post a special smilie in your honor!

Good morning

From a statistical perspective, the next buying opportunity is on Monday.

-1.16% MTD

I am still in SPX and pleased to hear your analysis!

Hope you are not full of it! :cheesy:
