JTH's Account Talk

Why anyone would want to buy on a Friday before a 3-day weekend is beyond me? Just got back from a 5K fun run, this is going to be an awesome weekend to relax, smoke cigars, drink a little, take the family out to eat ect. Just good quality time spent with family. :)

Ah friend, you've come out of hibernation to pay a visit, I am glad to see you poking around looking for that comb of honey...

I live for honey and money. Now, if only honey would stop spending my money ! (LoL)

Well just keep that pool water sweet because I'm making my way to your place. I'm making progress up the tracker.

DOn't think I havne;t noticed your patience has paid off. I wonder how many folks sold at the bottom in June, only to watch this rally, yet unable to do anything about it. It's really sad when you think about it. :(

birch face it, only swing traders make it to the TOP. Your chicken is always in the pot so when the market is good youll have a decent position be happy with that, JTH is untouchable to you if he keeps hitting the right buttons.

In over four years here, I don't recall ever seeing such a mass exodus to the G. Can that many be right at the same time? Or, are they part of a herd mentality? I think there is room to run yet, even if this is fake. I'm greedy, and I'll pay for it, but I will likely head to G at some point myself if this run-up continues unabated.

Oh, oh - I know one!!!

When one is a single cell a synapse cannot connect anything:p

Our single celled friend started bailing on the 14th and largely completed on the 16th (two backwards trades). He watched the market fall a couple of basis points and started retreating to the G/F combo. The market bottom was on the 15th in the S&P 500 (C Fund).

Oh, well:worried:

It will be proven shortly that there is more risk in being out of the market than being in. Let the parabolic angle of ascent continue.

Just heard some dude on the radio today yakking that the market was going to correct to a low on July 18th. Moon and stars and stuff...
That is, if the market didn't boom Tuesday and Wednesday. I think it was a recorded show from earlier this week.

My guess is that folks gotta get out of bonds till that market adjusts to Big Ben pulling out. The FED has been propping that bad debt instrument. Also, I don't want to be in a fund that provides 'emergency asset collateral' for the gubmint (ie. the 'G Fund'). Ugly market to invest in. At least equities aren't being directly manipulated.

Yes, i am one of those who sold low, i just couldnt take the pain as hubby said i must be prudent with my retirement money. I am breaking even with my balance the same as beginning of the month and am actually in negative with the big chunks taken out of paycheck :notrust:. Like BT says i am one of those people who move their money around too much. I will be out of town for a few weeks in northern michigan so wont have much access. That is probably good as I am way too anxious usually to use my transfers at beginning of month and seems members who sit and wait til 3rd or 4th week to use transfers fare better. Thanks JTH for your explanations and not charging a fee for them. I am definitely kicking myself for missing this rally, I might retire in a year and am trying to aggressively increase my balance but am making some really crappy moves so far.

I, like you got out and now looks like we lost out on 2.25% over the past few days. Just glad I came out positive for the month and am on track for making my 2% per month goal pan out. Ready to get back in after the next short reversal.

I'm wondering how many companies are in the market today buying up their own stocks - earnings are going to exceed analysts projections because of buying in Q2.

How much profit taking will there be in the final half hour?

I'm thankful that I captured the whole week, but I bailed last minute today - partly to have a carefree weekend and partly because there's only so many consecutive up days that can occur before the market takes a breather. It doesn't hurt that I can get back in this month.

July is usually good, and corrections like the one just past rarely occur closer than 3 months apart, so I expect to move back in soon. I'm one of those that voted "bullish" on the SS and bailed last minute today, but I'd be surprised if I'm still out next Friday.

It looks like it isn't finished going up yet. :)

I remember the market going up for 13 days straight. There will be plenty of head popping anxiety next week - you can bet on that. This type of momentum will not detour so easily.

I was planning to take my winnings and bail next week. This news about 13 days straight puts me in quite an indecisive predicament. :worried:

I wonder how much of this week's rally came from short covering?

I am hoping Birch is right, because I will be back in soon.
