Interfund Transfer 09/07 for 09/10/07

I'm thinking I misunderstood you. Please correct me if I'm off track because what you are saying is kind of contradictory and you seemed to be looking for controversy where it need not be.

You wouldn't believe how many emails I received from people who were freaked out about the late change by the ebbchart. My response was to say if you are following the system and you are 100% in the S fund instead of 100% I fund, don't jump out a window. It's not that big of a deal. Emphasis on "if you are following the system". If you are not following it, then you are doing whatever you want to anyway.

Of course next to Ebb's system, anything looks relatively weaker. But to say TSP Trading or Trader Fred is less useful - after you said you are close to retirement and it is unwise to be fully invested, and Fred's system has tripled the return of the S&P 500 while being out of the market [guessing] about 65% of the time, tells me you may be posting for affect rather than thinking about what you are saying.

Again, if I misunderstood you, please explain. Thanks

My situation is that I can retire in a few weeks if I want. I enjoy what I do, and will work another year or two - maybe. At this stage of life, I keep at least 90% in the G Fund. Some days, I may switch to the I Fund and put in 5 or 10% - it may be only 2 or 3%. This past week I was in the F Fund for 5%. I don't want to be fully invested now or in the future. Looking back, it was a good move; I wish I had been fully invested in the F Fund at the time, but I won't take the risk.

About the many emails you received about the late change by the ebbchart: I switched to the I Fund effective Monday. I am okay with the change by ebbchart.

I didn't intend to rub you the wrong way. You provide a lot of information and I'm sure you spend a lot of time keeping things in order on this board. I appreciate it.

Timmie,
You seem to have your ducks in order!
Please remember that we don't know the risk v reward elements of a lot of members. So U could be 1 year TSP @ 1K.....or 30 year TSP @ XXXK.

A bird in the hand is worth 3 in the bush!
Protect Ur retirement!

I have 22 years in TSP, military and civilian work. Now I have 143K in TSP. Some years my TSP performed poorly. In my earlier years I took much more risk than now.
