ILoveTDs Account Talk

I'm aware that it's only $8 per trade and not per share. I was stating in a roundabout way, I guess, that the fee and the price/value of the share should be considered. If you don't purchase enough shares, the cost basis will have you in the negative. I belif we were both talking about different things.
I guess if you got big money to spend, these things don't matter. But if you are a small time investor just starting out and you have minimal funds to invest, you gotta take the fees into consideration. It's tough only having enough money to buy one share of KO or PEP specially when you have to consider the fee for the transation.

PEIX:

Resistance: $1.26 (200 SMA) and then $1.60 (double top)
Support: $1.12 (50 SMA), then $1.00 (pivot low), and then $0.83 (next pivot low)
Good bullish consolidation off the Nov 11 push up (honesty here, I made nearly 200% on this stock back then), but is coming into resistance. Watch the 200 SMA...

Just my 2 cents
Good Luck!

Thanks RMI - Went with 800 PEIX at $1.18 per

I don't think anybody clarified anything in all this discussion. Here's my understanding of the way it works.

Company A = $500/share
Company B = $10/share

I buy $1000 worth of both companies' stock. It costs $8 for each trade, not each share. Both companies gain 2%. The value of the stocks = $1020. Doesnt matter the number of shares. What am I missing?

I do understand ILoveTDs' comment about a lower priced stock being more susceptible to volatility. :)

You were very clear Sensei. ;) I was trying to explain another angle and I was misunderstood. No worries.

I moved 100% F Fund COB today. I foresee a little dip tommorow and I think next week will be fairly flat over the week- if their is no reward I rather not have the risk.

Good luck to everyone.

We'll look's like I was wrong about Friday. However, I would rather miss a gain then be in on a loss any day of the week.

Yep, looks like it will end fairly flat. I think next week will be up though and am buying into todays dip. 100% S Fund COB.

Good Day, Good Day.

Now if we could just figure out how to break 13000 tomorrow? Probably won't happen especially since it is Friday. Oh well hopefully we will at least get close.

Futures show Dow up over 13000 and greece set to sign deal tonight. If we break this 13000 ceiling tomorrow this thing should run for awhile. Hope you are not on the lilypad.

Not felling too good about Monday. hopefully it isn't down much as I'm still 100% S Fund.

My stock account is with Sharebuilder - I'm a buy and hold dividend stock kind of guy, ala Birchtree. But I'm curious about the penny stock scene. Sharebuilder doesn't carry many penny stocks. Who do you guys trade with, and what are the commissions like? The commissions would probably negate any gains I might make, since I don't have a lot of money to play with at the moment. Just curious for some day down the road though.

I pay $5.95 per trade, so the more shares, the less impact the fee has. On small caps, even a few pennies can be huge %, so it is important to get in at the bottom or know where the target is and get in as low as you can.

For DHT, I was in at 0.79, break even at 0.806 and sold at 1.04 for a 30% gain... it went up higher, but I was happy with what I got.

HIMX I was in at 1.04, break even at 1.059, and sold at 1.39 for a 32%+ gain...

It's timing. Heck, I made over 100% on PEIX and SIRI (no necessarily a small cap).

My friend, just wait until it's your turn to deal with form 8949 - sales and other disposition of capital assets. Our friends at the IRS will have a copy of every move you make via 1099s. I've been working mine for the last few days and have more time to spend.
