I fund for September 08

early EAFE estimate down -$0.0235
plus FV Thursday (previous) of +$0.0000 = -$0.0235

dollar down 0.15% = 77.97

Today is the second lowest day of 2008 for the I fund.

Anybody going to jump in on the next dip?

And just when would that be? :)

Was going to get in with you last time, but got kind of busy and couldn't focus much on what has been going on. Had a triple laminectomy and Ulna nerve decompression Aug 25th, recovering at my parents since in San Diego. Had lots of preparation to leave the house for two weeks, even brought the cat along.

From my guesstimates, the I fund could get down to mid eighteens, so been chewing over if that much of a loss would get to my greedy side. Really I want to put a decent amount in for a 5 year long and just let it ride, don't think there is any danger in that, but still if we get down into the eighteens, I'd surely get squeamish. Then again, if it did go that low, it's going to be a mess all over no matter what and as long as that sleazy uncle of mine doesn't figure out a way to get out of paying what's due in 5 years, it would be a safe move. Day trading it's not, but with the rule change for IFT's, it's just too much work to monitor and still have a life outside of monitory worries.

BTW, back surgery and elbow surgery went great, and the surgeon surely delivered. UCSD all the way! Have never been treated so well or seen such a smooth operation available to a working class joe with Blue Cross FEP insurance. Then again I live in Ridgecrest...... My stenosis was so bad, and has been that way for 25 years, I only wish I’d of had this procedure done years ago. All back, leg pain, burning and numbness is gone. It’s so noticeable that even a small breeze across my foot is so much more noticeable than it ever was.

Sorry to go on, it’s been a lot of pain to endure for so many years, and am sure dealing with it has had an impact on my general attitude as well.

Going to put some time in the next couple of days to get comfortable with what’s going on in the financial world, and make the move. As far as economy goes, there is no reduction in traffic in the North County San Diego area, never any parking at most malls or stores of any kind, and people spending like they have no clue as to what is occurring in today’s markets. Driving back and fourth to the hospital I see development tracks going up everywhere. I do notice a lot of vacant commercial properties. Wal-Mart, COSTCO and the likes are surely busy. Personally I’ve paid off two credit cards, and have resisted the temptation to use even one for the last month.

So yea, I’m going in shortly.

Thanks again for all your estimates.

negative. No way!
sorry, I was looking at the wrong day.:)

EAFE estimate down -$0.5723
plus FV Thurssday (previous) of +$0.0000 = -$0.5723

dollar up 0.47% = 78.46

Wow!!! I fund is already -3.39

I am invested 65% G and 35% I. This morning I put in 100% I fund. Hopefully I'll make up what I've lost and then some with a good bounce.... Hopefully:worried:

SOS (Stones of Steel). Good luck! AH, To be young again:D

The dollar is at it's strongest in a looooong time. This will hurt the I Fund every day.

European countries may lower interest rates in 6 months due to the poor economies. This would further strengthen the dollar or the reason for the high dollar.

This could make it harder to make a buck on the I fund. Dollar looks strong long term.

I am hoping for a short term correction. :)

FYI

I think you are looking at the ISHARES MSCI EAFE FD (EFA).

This is not the I fund.

The EFA is an exchange-traded fund that emulated the MSCI EAFE.

One difference is the timing of the price. With big swings in prices, you could lose a lot of money if you monitor the EFA and trade in the I fund.

EAFE final down -$0.5073
plus FV Thursday (previous) of +$0.0000 = -$0.5073

dollar up 0.71% = 78.64

EAFE final down -$0.5073
plus FV Thursday (previous) of +$0.0000 = -$0.5073
minus FV Thursday of -$0.2269 = -$0.7342 final :(

woe is me. :(
