I think your scenario is unlikely at the moment. Other world currencies are losing value against the USA dollar. The yen is one of the major exceptions.
You are thinking that the I fund will be worth more because the dollar tanks. The exchange might be more, but the stocks will be down more. Where is the gain?
I would uses a 3 x 5 example. 3 is the exchange rate and 5 is the stock prices.
If the exchange rate goes to 30 and the stocks go to 0.1. 30 x 0.1 is less than 3 x 5. You may have hedged the dollar, but you still lose.
If the USA dollar tanks, which country's stock market would be a hedge against a complete dollar collapse. I see none. I think your hedging idea will not work.
The Nikkei is a good example. When the dollar weakens against the yen, the Nikkei often goes down. The I fund actually is losing more right now, with the Nikkei at a 26 year low and a strong yen.
The yen is king right now, but the Nikkei is tanking. Japanese goods will be too expensive.
If there is a complete dollar collapse, I think the I fund would be the worst idea.
The I fund is great if the dollar slowly loses value and there is no world panic.

I actually was going to guess a higher -FV. The FV adjustment right now appears to be the change of the day and not an adjustment.
The I fund does not change in proportion to the US markets. It appears that Barclays must use a greater percentage to keep up with the downward prices.

EAFE final of +$0.3286
plus FV Tuesday (previous) of +$0.4009 = $0.7295
plus FV Tuesday (guess) of +$0.8000 = $1.5295
dollar down 0.72% = 86.71
Anyone out there that got out for TODAY and locked in those huge losses???? Anyone??!?!?!?!?!
