I Fund for December 2008

Friday EAFE estimate of -$0.4397
plus FV Friday (previous) of +$0.5000 = +$0.0603
minus FV Friday of -$0.1600 = -$0.0997
minus mystery money of -$0.0282 = -$0.1279 final :worried:

16 cents -FV for absolutely no reason. On a Friday. Barclay needs to set aside bonus money, for their CEOs.

This is why I have gradually pulled shares out of the I fund and into C.
At least I can watch the S & P and know exactly what happened. I know everyone says that the I-fund will recover faster, but I'm not convinced. The history of the return rates don't prove squat, except to show that the daily rates are manipulated by Barclay.:suspicious: Here's where we need more of that "Transparency" that I'm always reading about.

By the way, thanks for your efforts Corvette. You do a good job of trying to keep tabs on the I-fund, but since they make their own rules up as they go, it's obviously hopeless to figure out sometimes.

It looks like TSP will be open and processing transactions on Friday as well.:suspicious:

Are you sure? They might just be a little slow to update the web site about Friday's holiday.

I think TSP will be closed on Friday.

Anybody have the official word?

Nah! It's open!!:D
December 15 —
The deadline for the TSP to receive a request for an annual
change in monthly payments is December 15. This deadline applies only to
participants who are in monthly payment status.

December 25 —
The stock and bond markets will be closed on Thursday,
December 25, because of the Christmas holiday. Because December 25 is a
Federal holiday, the Thrift Savings Plan will also be closed. Transactions
that would have been processed Thursday night (December 25) will be
processed Friday night (December 26), at Friday’s closing share prices.

December 26 —
TSP monthly payments that are normally scheduled to be
disbursed December 29, 2008, through December 31, 2008, will be
processed on December 26, along with the December 26 payments that are
regularly scheduled for that date. In addition, supplemental required
minimum distribution payments will be made on December 26. For income
tax purposes, these payments will be reported to the Internal Revenue
Service as income for 2008.

December 29 —
Withdrawals made on December 29 will be reported to the
Internal Revenue Service as income for 2008.

December 30 and 31 —
Withdrawals made on December 30 and 31 will be
reported to the Internal Revenue Service as income for 2009.

January 1 —
The stock and bond markets will be closed on Thursday,
January 1, 2009, because of the New Year’s holiday. Because January 1 is a
Federal holiday, the TSP will also be closed. Transactions that would have
been processed Thursday night (January 1) will be processed Friday night
(January 2), at Friday’s closing share prices.

January 2 —
Because January 4, 2009, falls on a Sunday, monthly
payments scheduled to be disbursed on that day will be disbursed on Friday,
January 2, 2009.

The TSP
will be closed on both December 25, 2008, and January 1, 2009.

We wish all of you a safe and happy holiday season
