I'm flying out of Washington DC on Friday morning, so I should be able to miss the storm… It looks like Irene won't be a Huge Hurricane at this time… My brother who works in Miami is going to fly his Cessna 182 North early this week as he only has a Tee Hanger in South Florida… Too bad this storm is not headed for Texas as they need the Rain!! My other brother lives in Jacksonville Florida and has never risen out a Hurricane before.
I'm tryin' HARD she's moving a little to the East, but needs to go to sleep or get out of town!Looks like the track is shifting slightly to the right, more out to sea.
Keep it up there Nnuut!

Just what I need to hear! Not knowing what we may have heard about the earthquake, my son called to let us know he was okay in Leesburg.... I rode out Hugo on an Aircraft Carrier a good distance from the eye, but we did some Rockin N Rolling... Also rode out a very large one while serving on the USS Enterprise in the South Pacific... The winds were so strong we were breaking chains on one of our F14 Tomcats on the flight deck... LOL...
.... So, I respect their power...
Grandma, Do you know what ship your grandson is on? I might be able to give you a website or two to check status.Just what I need to hear! Not knowing what we may have heard about the earthquake, my son called to let us know he was okay in Leesburg.
However, my 15 yo grandson is riding out Irene, as the cruise ship he is on (thank you, ex-in-laws!) is circling around out in the Bahamas waiting for the seas to calm. Getting this info third hand is unsettling! :worried:
I think it is one of Royal Carribean's - it is a new ship, this is the first cruise out for it. They are/were supposed to be into St Thomas today. My son is getting a root canal at the moment - maybe he'll call back later to clarify...Grandma, Do you know what ship your grandson is on? Thank you for what-ever you can find out...
Thank you much, NASA! That really helped - I can see the Virgin Islands are aawaay east of Irene!!Hope this helps. This information from CruiseCritic.com as of today. http://www.cruisecritic.com/news/news.cfm?ID=4583
Royal Caribbean
Oasis' sister ship, Allure of the Seas, is visiting all the ports originally scheduled on its week-long Caribbean cruise, but in a slightly different order. The ship will visit Nassau, Bahamas on Saturday (August 27) instead of Monday (August 22). Visits to St. Thomas (Wednesday) and St. Marten (Thursday) will take place as planned.
