Just became a member this year and love the information and interactions here! I have been a fed for 38 years. 1.5 years left before tapping out! My tsp strategy has been all over the place thru the years, some really good moves, some poor ones. Through all of that I have finally, this year, reached the classically desired ‘big number’ balance! Hope to learn and share going forward how to keep it moving up. Thanks!

Welcome. Retirement is great. your time will go quickly, or it will drag eternally. Retired twice. First time in 2012 and then in 2018

Welcome MeasureMaster! Thanks for joining us!

Back in the day I was all over this site yelling that I would be willing to give up Social Security and/or my FERS pension for a greater match in TSP.
I wish the Gubmint had taken that offer. I mean, take nothing and give nothing is fair. I would have been better off.
But, now I'm on the cusp of 62 (like you) and my grasping hands want the 10% buff. I want a better brand of Alpo for retirement :p

Still, remember now is not the time for swing trading TSP. You want 5 - 7 years on necessary withdraws in the G (maybe F) Fund(s). Play with the rest since you will thus have recovery time, but don't reach for the stars and risk the Alpo Meal Deal Retirement.
