Hello all, My name is Luke. I only have 9 months in the TSP as that is how long I have been with the gov. I did 6 years active in the USN and am a combat veteran. I only wish I had started my TSP contributions while I was active duty. I'm 32 now, contribute 25% biweekly, and am fully concentrated on me and my wife's retirement. I am 100% S fund right now but want to learn how to buy and sell like the top players on the tracker. Is the tracker a tool that only shows a members monthly/quarterly/annual rate of return or does it show said member's exact fund transfers, date &time etc? I'm not quite sure how to play the market for each fund but if I have to mirror someone else's actions to make more money I'm not ashamed to do it! Thanks in advance for all the wisdom, much appreciated!

Welcome Luke! You can get all the information you mentioned from each member on the tracker. Just click on their name while in the auto-tracker.

So I guess my next logical step is to register for the tracker etc, so I may begin using the force lol. One question though, I noticed some members have more than 2 monthly IFT's. Some have 4 etc. how is that possible?

Welcome aboard Luke. You have come to the right place to follow a persons moves or a couple of folks. Most folks will not give specific advice, for various reasons, but you can watch what they are doing and follow them if that is what you elect to do. Also, there are some good premium services if you elect to go that way. You are still very young when it comes to thinking about retirement but that is a commendable move that you are there. The very first rule is always, "Start early". Again welcome aboard and we'll see you around the message board.

Thank you novice. I will shadow some people's moves I'm sure until I can get the hang of watching the market myself and learing exactly what to look for and anticipate. I just registered for the Auto Tracker and now I'm planning the upcoming weeks moves.

Welcome to the Message Board Luke. Stick around and get involved, that's easy making the right decisions is the hard part.
Best of luck.:D

You can move into the G fund as many times up to 100 you want. Say one day I move 100% from G to C, then from C to S. That is two moves, now I want so slowly move out so I move 25% out one day, 25% the next, 5% another day 1% the following day, etc.

Thank you Show-me, makes sense now. Already learned something imagine that!

Welcome aboard Luke .... this is an excellent site to learn about your TSP & gain from members with a lot of experience

Welcome Luke!

Good luck and congrats on getting started as early as you have... The earlier the better, as time is one thing you cannot get back.

Quick question folks, do most of the premium members on here use Intrepid_Timer?

Welcome to the board Luke. All I will say is that my premium account talk thread has over 119,000 views and almost 5000 replies since it was started on Jan 21st of this year. Of course, this could just be two people viewing it A LOT of times during the day and my mother and I carrying on a running conversation...........;)

Lol. Intrepid, since your sales pitch almost has me convinced I just have one more query; are any of your subscribers in the top 25 of the auto tracker returns competition?

Now you're getting personal.........;) This time I'll just say yes and more than one............:)

This may work with Tracker, but it won't work with TSP. But, I understand there are some people claiming they can get more than two moves out of TSP. I have called TSP twice and received the same message; on your third move it must be 100% to the G fund. If you are able to get two moves and then get several more moves to the G fund as you slowly adjust your account you are somehow getting around the system. If this is true, be assured this is not enjoyed by the whole world.

Farmboy,

You got to read the posts closer. You can move every day of the month out of a equity fund into the G fund. Example On Dec. 1st I was 100% C fund and I can move 2% into the G fund every business day TSP is open. That is where folks are getting more than two moves. You are correct we only get two move in equities.

I hear what you are saying, but I have been unable to do this with my account. If I have two IFT's and then decide to move some into the G and leave the rest in any other equities account my TSP will not accept that move. My third move must be 100% G. I have tried this twice and both time it was rejected by TSP. I have called TSP twice and received the same message, on your third move it must be 100% to the G fund. ????? I am begining to believe this is not true with everyone?
