Golf Pool... The PGA Championship 2013

The PGA Championship starts Thursday, 8/08/13...

Pick 5 golfers.

Lowest 4 player total score wins (relative to par).

If you have players that miss the cut, their final score will be 10 strokes higher than the last place player who made the cut.

4 out of 5 is the way to go because if we pick more we are going to end up picking the same players...but I think that anyone who misses the cut should have a worse score than the last place guy...I guess it won't matter because if you have more than 1 guy miss the cut you probably won't win...I'm just worried if after the cut the weather turns awful and the scores balloon up to where they finish behind the ones who miss the cut...


you said by 4...do you mean multiply their score by 2....+12 x 2=24. or extrapolate their score by giving them the same score they received the first two days for the next two days

Trying some New Rules:

Pick 5 golfers... Lowest 4 player total score wins (relative to par).

If you have players that miss the cut, multiple their 2 day score by 2 to get their total.

Example: A player misses the cut after Round 2 at +12... Their total score is +24.

Let's see how this goes.

So we'll see how this goes, and if it doesn't work out, we'll go back to standings position instead of score.

Next year I'd really like to incorporate the odds list to encourage bonus points for picking long shots that do well. It will widen the number of players selected so we're not all picking the top 10 players in the world.

I thought about incorporating the odds as well...we could go off the odds ebb posts for all the golfers...for ex. Ernie Els is 66 to 1 to win the PGA...if he makes the cut you would get 66 pts...after the first two rounds are completed and the cut is established we could go off the new odds established for the last two rounds...if Ernie is now 15 to 1 to win...this is where I am stuck...only one person can win so odds are hard to work in from here

Im starting this off as i have previous posts. There are many ways to skin the cat. Whatever is picked for each event works for me. At the same time, i dont see why you want to manipulate cut players Friday scores by multplying or adding strokes in any way? They are cut and so too should the person playin in the pool. If you dont go into Saturday with 4 players, you didnt make the cut. Just like real golf.

If you go back and look at the British final scores, i believe approximately 31 players who missed the cut would have been a better pick in our pool than picking the golfer who made the cut and came in last place. This is based on our current rule of multiplying a cut persons final score relative to par by 2.
Should a person who only has 3 picks who make the cut do better than a person with 4 picks who made the cut?

It may be mathmatically possible for a person to have 2 picks outta 5 miss the cut and still win but i dont think it will ever happen so why track their other 3 picks over the weekend?
