GGal's Account Talk

I'll ask my question in GGal's thread because the topic is current here. Deletion of the No Chat threads seems to have cost functionality I had come to rely on, unless there's another link I missed. I used to be able to look through that set of threads, find a selected member and quickly see what fund the member is in and what funds he'she is going to. From the links above, it appears that procedure is more of a research project now. Am I missing a link to an easy substitute? Thanks.

Yes, where can we see who moved where? I elected to remove myself from the tracker some time ago, and now can't see anyone's moves.

Warren...just click on the Automated Tracker, then click on IFT of the Day at the bottom and you see all the moves.

Thanks. I think this confirms the loss of functionality I missed. I used to be able to scroll thru screen name threads, looking for a particular name, find a member, and see immediately where she is and where she is going, if posted yet. I could repeat the process quickly for several members. Looks like I'll need to learn a new process to get the same multiple member data close to noon.

I agree.

I threw in half the towel today. Even if we now have a huge rally, I still feel relief. I've left the other half of the towel in, I guess because of the dollar.

On another note, did the TSP board consider that they could stop the frequent trading by merely making the effective date of the trade two days later?

Oh, I long for the good 'ole days, when we were all making money, and slapping each other on the back, and 12% was our low goal, and 30% was our dream....and we'd stop and pick on The Technician every now and then, and goad him to come out and play, and Jeff was reporting the rankings daily, and 350 was keeping us updated by the minute on the I fund, and we were rooting for Thunder and Mercury and Big John, and Ebb could do no wrong.....it was all so glorious.......

Now, I spend on gas to get to work all week what some people take home, and all my stocks are down (except ALNY, my miracle pick), and I'm not doing any decorating this year, and I'm starting to think of downsizing, and my TSP account doesn't seem as promising......

I'm with ya!

Thanks for clearing up the info on the tax rebate advance on the one time tax cut of my 2008 tax return. Whew, that was a mouth full.

Hi Precious,
I've been thinking a lot about you lately and how you're feeling; so thought I'd throw my 2 cents in. The good ole guys (as you put it) are still around and none of them have forgotten the green eyed, blond haired beauty that is (and will always remain) special to them.

They miss the good ole days too my love. I think part of the problem stems from your old saying about "Woman being more like cats and Men like dogs" - well there is some real truth to that and "our ego" can really get in the way. So when we drop down towards the bottom of the TSP Tracker - many feel compelled to stay out of sight (which is unfortunate).

Then you have to consider that for the past 5 years it's been a lot easier to blow your horn and stay in an optimistic mood - and even when things took a rough tumble last Spring and Summer we were all in the same club with Ebb n Flow making the most precise moves possible and keeping huge gains/avoiding losses when no one else could get ahead. So they were different days my love, with unlimited transfers and years of good growth.

Things changed dramatically in 10/07 when Premium Services combined with a System that finally failed. So everyone was in an uproar and we wondered how we'll ever get through this. Then comes news of the limited transfers which of course dominated everything for months and months - turning an overcast season into constant rain. We (as a group) went across the grain and so we largely came under fire as a result. When you consider how badly the Markets have largely responded since 10/07 - it is not surprising that many of these guys have "taken a break".

But cheer up my love, guys on the whole aren't as together as you ladies and the "relationships" get lost in the losings. So now that the dust has finally settled - the battle of the ITFs is FINALLY OVER - we can move on - all of us on the same page; and the worst of the economic news and conflicts is finally beginning to settle - THE SUN MAY COME OUT SOON and when it does the good ole guys will be back. Anyway - you are not alone - WE ALL MISS THOSE DAYS.

GGal:

I can't help but be happy that it's spring after a long cold winter. I think I feel like one of the perrenials in my garden that must be thinking " Get rid of this damn cold weather so I can sprout, bloom, and show some flower.." My flowers are of course, all sensitive new age perennials..:D:D:D

On a serious note, the financials are continuing to weigh the market down, and the economic data next week is going to be an important test. How are retail sales doing, and what is CPI looking like...I'm still only 50% invested and don't plan to make any dramatic moves until my buds start to green up..

Hope you have a green spring..

What choo mean green spring? We never had winter! My centipede never went completely dormant! I think we had two nights a little below freezing, so I did lose the asparagus fern on my porch.

Listen, my azaleas and dogwood and redbuds and spirea and daffodils all bloomed in early March.

In early April all my big knock out roses popped open. They'll bloom til December.

Along with my irises, which are still blooming.

And my Stella d oras (sic) are in full bloom. As well as my oakleaf Hydrandgeas.

Still waiting to bloom are all my other daylilies, lots of red, coral, orange, and yellow ones, as well as snow whites.

And, my Little Nikkos, the pretty blue hydrandgeas.

As well as my shasta daisies and my rebecca goldstrums and purple coneflowers.

It's a wonderful colorful world in my yard, almost all year round.

I just finished planting two red maple trees in my front yard - I want some red color when December arrives. That way I don't have to travel to North Georgia or the Blue Ridge in North Carolina to get some fall color.

Great Birchtree (I have several birchtrees out back) -

I love red maples, and they grow pretty fast. There is one in my front yard as well.

The wood on them is a little weak because it's very inflexible, more so that many other trees, so if one gets stuck by lightening it may split it right down the center, or wherever it takes the strongest hits.

That happened to mine when it was younger, and the county extension guy came out and told me that. We had to remove part of the tree. About a 1/3 of it. But it's okay.

My daddy planted a red maple in my friend's yard right before he died. She calls it Ray's Folly.

What I like about mine is nobody else in the neighborhood has one, so it really stands out.

I wish I'd planted more of them out back, rather than some of the others I did, like silver maple and cherry trees (not the yoshima, it's too hot here for that, but the other one).

Have you been to Macon during Cherry Blossom Festival to see all the Yoshimas in bloom there?

Old man Fickling, one of the town's most prominent guys (dead now), wanted something that would bloom on his birthday every year.

Over a period of a few years, he brought in thousands of Yoshimas that are planted all over Macon.

Tourists come from all over the world to see.

Best view is Ingleside Drive or Oxford Rd.

Hi G:

This ended up being the second worst winter on weather up here in the NW. We had over 92 inches of snow. The only thing that stayed green was my douglas fir and a few pines..

The color out of my back yard yard was mostly white..but:

The deer are all back,

the turkeys returned,

The quail are multiplying,

The pheasants and squawking,

The marmets are enjoying the yard,

and the sqirrels and chipmunks are back,

nor bad considering our winter..

And best of all, spring is finally here...Hoo Rah!!!

Best wishes to you in your investing..

Hi, GGAL,

Today I was able to read your postings on your beautiful garden and backyard, I just can see all the colors very carefully combined, and I think you must have one of the most beautiful gardens in that part of the country. I have been to Georgia several times to visit with family and I really enjoy not only the weather but the colorful flowers especially in spring.

I also miss the good old days, but I am very confident that they will come back. I really believe in the cycles that everything has to go through, and this is only one more of them. So cheer up and let's enjoy the "new" gurus we have now. I like to read Uptrend, Optionman, Squalebear, luv2read, so we have some new blood with new ideas and strategies, or plain new members that just want to learn more, and that is good. Griffin and Ebb and the rest of the gurus I am sure will also be there to offer good advice when the time is right.

Cheers!

On the tracker you asked if your move from 10% (F) into the (G) counted
towards your limits. The answer is, YES it does. Any first two moves made
during the month counts as your 2 Unrestricted Moves. After that, your
only capable of moving your money back into the (G).

So be careful. If you move all of your money into the (G) during your 2nd
IFT, your stuck there until the following month.

Here's what you've done so far:

5/01/08 20%(G) 10%(F) 10%(C) 00%(S) 60%(I) - STARTING POINT
5/15/08 30%(G) 00%(F) 10%(C) 00%(S) 60%(I) - 1 OF 2 IFT's
5/ /08 _________________________________ -2 OF 2 IFT's (LAST)
