Thankful for SOCIALIZED MEDICINE- VA Medical Care is awesome!

Wow...just seeing this thread. I'll be praying for a speedy and full recovery for you James! Triple bypass!! Was this a planned surgery or an unexpected 'event'? My father-in-law had a quadruple bypass after he passed out at work and thankfully coworkers were around to call for help. This I learned from him: do you breathing exercises and take your walks each day...just do it!

Hope you're feeling better soon.

I just had a heart scan this weekend. I watched "Widowmaker" on Netflix a few weeks ago and decided to have it done (OK, my wife did.) It is supposed to be a strong indicator for your risk of heart attack.

Heart scan (coronary calcium scan) - Mayo Clinic

My father died very early (37) of a heart attack (basically clogged arteries) so this has been a concern of mine. My cholesterol could be lower so I expected an issue, but thankfully my preliminary reading was quite low.

Not every hospital offers this as it isn't a big money maker for them. They make money surgically implanting stints instead.

Insurance won't pay for it but it is inexpensive enough. My wife and I both had it done a total of $169. Takes about 3 minutes. I recommend it.

But I digress.

Guess we are thinking the same thing Tom, probably because of our jobs. :) I went and had my peripheral arteries and C-reactive protein checked a couple of weeks ago with Life Line Screening and they are good to go. CRP was below average actually. Next in line is to get my carotid artery scanned.

Hey Jim,

Sorry I missed your welcome home party..I just read this...Man I hope you're doing well now ..As now I can kid around a little with ya...

The surgery obviously was only a partial success as your left wing mental state is still in need of some TLC..And just imagine if Trump had been in charge, the VA would have gave you a penthouse suite for your recovery..

Seriously,

Glad you made it okay.,
