Future Allocation Changes

Callme_Co didn't understand so I sent this answer to his PM.

"OK I'll try one more time, I have a knack of making something simple, complicated.
If Friday is a holiday here and the other Christian countries in Europe and not a holiday in Japan then the markets here and Europe will be closed and the Markets in Japan will be open Friday. If you IFT Thursday before the deadline it will be effective Monday (first working day after the holiday which is Monday for the US and Europe). The Markets in Japan (for instance) should be OPEN Friday and your IFT will be effective for Japan Friday. So part of the I fund is open Friday and part is not because of the holiday in those countries that celebrate that day.
PHEWW!:D"
Sorry!:embarrest:

LOL

Lets see here. I understand the US Market thingie and all because of the Holiday Friday and the need to do IFT before Noon Thursday to be in for Monday.

The bulk of this question surrounds the TSP and I Fund for this Holiday. I haven't seen a notice as of yet but, will the TSP be open or not on Friday? As of now I am assuming it will be closed. That would mean we could not play in the I Fund Friday with an IFT into it by Noon Thursday. If we were to be in the I Fund Friday and TSP was closed, we could not do an IFT out of it Friday in order to not be in it Monday. We would be stuck in the I Fund for Monday because of the TSP being closed.

But since TSP and the I Fund go together and if TSP is closed Friday, it would not work anyhoo to get into the I Fund Friday. I wasn't thinking about this I Fund and TSP being in tandem until now. It is because I am here at this site that this question to understand this has come forth.

So, assuming the TSP is closed Friday and we wanted to be in the I Fund For Monday, we would have to do an IFT before Noon Thursday into the I Fund.

The bottom line here with my question has to do with the TSP being closed or open Friday. The way I am seeing it is, plan where you want to be for Monday by doing an IFT before Noon Thursday and forget about Friday entirely. LOL I won't go into an if the TSP is open Friday thingie. I will just leave that alone and stick with the closed thingie for now. LOL

Now that my brain cells are scattered far and wide as I attempt to gather them up again LOL, is this explanation of my question making sense?

Y'all are great and thanks to all.

No!
Think of the "I" fund as a multi country fund. The ones that are not open Friday because of a holiday Friday are not available, BUT the ones that are open, BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT CHRISTIAN are open and will participate in the "I" fund just like they would normally. You will not be able to make an IFT Friday if the TSP isn't open or if the US markets are closed!! You can be in the "I" fund Friday if you ISP-ed Thursday or before and get credit for any gains or losses for any country who's Market is OPEN and is in the "I" fund! What Now?

No sweat Wolverine, I'm not very good at expaining things Ya know. I remember when I first started I didn't understand, it took me awhile. What was tough for me is why the EFA "I" fund charts didn't reflect the actual value on a daily basis!!!! I was cussing them left and right!
