Frixxxx's Account Talk!

Congratulations!! Now what? :D
Well Tom,
1. Get the house sold, under contract, but waiting for inspection report.
2. Get wife to San Diego to find a place to live.
3. Drive remaining household goods to San Diego, probably with a Maltipoo side-kick.
4. Move into new place.
5. Get that GS-14 job and be successful.
6. Have many breakfasts with Boghie, cause he's the smartest guy I know in San Diego.
7. Sail, Sail, and then sail some more!

Good start!

Congrats Frixxxx! Now that cumbersome signature element becomes more so as you should append (ret) after USAF or USAFR on the first line. Of course you may never have to use it again.

No more 35-10 haircuts. (yeah I know AFI 36-2903 since 95 or so) Like ravensfan, I couldn’t get used to letting the hair grow at first. Things evolved and now I am down to 2-4 haircuts per year. When it gets long it is a pita. I also likely look homeless just before haircut time. Maybe because I am too lazy to get one or maybe because I am cheap. I still go to AAFES and can’t believe a haircut is over $10 now.

As ravensfan stated, It is nice to be recognized for the rank when getting the ID checked. I always try to note the rank of the checker and say thank you using that rank. They seem to appreciate it now, especially when for whatever reason Army or Marine Corp personnel are manning the gate. Specialist, PFC or Private are relatively easy but I struggled to remember Lance Corporal one day. Glad I did because this Marine actually smiled and said something like “thank you for the recognition of the Corp”. Made my day. Even after 19 years I still enjoy interacting with military people and if I happen to be on base during retreat I usually pull over and “dismount my vehicle” and place my hand over my heart. Yeah I know veterans can now salute if they choose but it just doesn’t seem right in civvies.

Too much rambling! Frixxxx grow the hair as long as you want, ponytails are nice. Good luck in the new location with the new job.

Hey all,

Status update:

Moving truck in driveway! 50% boxed! Team of movers on Thursday!

Friday, some last minute home repair for inspection!

Saturday on the road for four days with my copilot Pheobe! She's my 5 year old Maltipoo.

Oh, and I have a telephone interview on Thursday for that civilian gig (yes, looking to come back into the fold)! Wish me luck!

Screw the markets right now, it comes back in it's own time.......

Move update:

I'm in San Diego! Well 60% of boxes done.
Wife ordering new sofa and new entertainment system on the way. Waiting for cable/internet. (using unlimited data on phone)
Puppy is still a little freaked, until the box moving/unpacking complete.
Car is still in Nevada until Pops drives down next week.
Public Transportation to work now that we are down to one car. (donated other to charity)

Hopefully by the end of the week I will be 99% moved in and ready to start living.

Lost 4 pounds with all the walking and box moving!

Hopefully making money in the markets.

No news on the civilian position yet, but no news is good news, right?

Peace!

Yay Frixxxx! moving is a very big job, good there's family willing and available to help share the load.

San Diego? Hot there lately.

My son just moved there in March. He lives in North Park but works in Rancho Bernardo.

I helped him move there. Drove from East Tennessee! Then drove back for a visit with the wife in June.

Nice town. Felt very comfortable.

Enjoy!
