Frixxxx's Account Talk!

Being in the market, from the time you invest until you die you will never lose.

Also buy and hold will alway beat the timers over a lifetime.

Just saying! Ha

Sorry to fill up your account talk, Frixxxx, but were all friends here right?

JTH- Oh, the great debate! Buy and Hold vs. Trading.

Proving my first comment is easy, a 30 yr investment of buy and hold dollar cost averaging ends in the green. So really you can't lose in TSP, especially if you adjust yearly.

My second comment can be debated and debated. For me I know buy and hold dollar cost averaging will outperform my trading efforts given any year and definitely over a lifetime. This simplifies it for me and increases my returns avoiding my screw ups of being out of the market. I'm not as worried about the loses, I will use bear markets to increase my contributions if I am not already maxed out, and if it so happens to drop 40% the year I planned to retire I will ride it out as it will return within a few years. There are many here much smarter than me and I believe the buy and hold will outperform the majority. You being one of the smarter, I thank you for you posts as many here help me to adjust my TSP account as needed. I hope some of the traders here are rewarded (because of your efforts and helping others) but it’s not a risk I am willing to take.

My returns
2003 Started end of year but ended in the green only invested in csi
2004 17%
2005 12%
2006 17.72%
2007 4.77%
2008 -38.34%
2009 31.24%
2010 16.83%
2011 6.04%

Buy and hold is not my way...It is a style that never suited me. I can show case after case where it can be beat. I love this site for it....

That being said...

Been there before. Take the 25 stitches and call it a day, it could have been worse. Glad to hear you are alright.

Glad you're ok, the whole "death" thing sucks! I needed to give up my bike a few years back, I already crashed it 2 times too many :D

I quit riding Murdercycles years ago, it seems folks just don't see you sometimes and pull out right in front of you. Happened to me twice, I quit! Hope your leg and the road rash heal quickly consider yourself lucky!

Dang, hope it's just the flesh wound as you said, with no nerve or other damage. Also hope the ride is OK. Otherwise, you'll have to go shopping for another one and we all know that's no fun :) . Ride year round down here on the Gulf Coast only pausing for the nastiest weather. Hope you don't have the same issues I do. Wife says I get cranky when I haven't ridden for a few days. Stay safe and wish you a speedy recovery.

DUDE!
You're a lucky man, you will live to see that sailboat yet.
Take it easy and with lots of ice.
Keep us updated.

I have a good friend who lived through two motorcycle accidents. One very serious. Glad to hear you were one of the lucky ones.
