Enjoy the islands! Brings back memories of my nautical days.:cheesy:

I had the one time experience of crewing on a delivery from St Thomas to the states.

62 foot sloop. Twin diesels for aux propulsion, generator, ac, tv, stereo system...ah the hardships of the sea going life.

In your opionion, what would be some good learning material to study and learn from?
babypips.com has a "graded leveling" from beginning to advanced chart reading!

Here's a forum of recommended reading posted by our members...

As always, read those suggestions....I found great deals on these books at the used books stores in my area or on Amazon.com.

Plus the threads here are invaluable!

OK Everyone --> I'm back...

Amazing how much work doesn't get done on vacation.

Should take me a day or two to get up to speed on current events.

Missed you all while I was gone (where is that sarcasm smilie?)

Contributions over the last three months have bee to the "C" 100%.

I may start looking to diversify through Christmas!

Hi Frixxxx,

You sound so relaxed and so refreshed.

That allocation you have is looking better and better.

And, yes, I have been known to have a pyramid writing problem.

I need a vacation...

That's what is needed in contributions every 2 weeks to reach the maximum deferrals allowed by law

Yep, I just went through those calculations last week and also calculated catchup contribution impacts on take home pay and budget-first year for doing catchups this coming year-I'm 4 years behind already.

Congratulations Frixxxx, a proud day indeed.

Frixxxx,

Congrats on the college kids thing. Don't they always amaze us!

I noticed that as of the 4 Dec 10 LES I am at $15,875. The $635 contribution on 18 Dec 10 will put me over the $16,500 limit. Damn. Might have lost some matching contributions. Maybe not. LES run from the first pay period which is not 1 Jan. Someone at DFAS is paid to figure all this out. (I don't work for DOD, DFAS is my pay provider agency)

Like alevin I too have neglected the catch up for many years. It's not automatic so I forget. I believe the old fart per pay period amount is $511. Plus or minus.

[Soap Box]For those of you viewing that think you can't afford to contribute $625 per pay period, try to find a way. You will thank yourself when you are an old fart. [/Soap Box]

regards

PO
