Forced PCS?

A co worker just got told he has to move to a different location within 30 days. He referred to it as a "mandatory PCS" The position he might be moving to has been "on and off the books" for about five years. Every time they recreate the FTE and advertise it, they get no qualified applicants. The co worker claims he has to go or retire. He is not ready to retire but we all know the needs of the government etc.

I have no dog in this hunt yet and I have no actual specific information about any written documents this employee has received.

I am curious if any of you have had any experience with this type of short notice PCS. It appears that the co worker's current position is not being eliminated. This subject has been discussed in another thread. I promised I wouldn't hijack it any more and will try to reference it.

Yes...but I think it is a different situation as we 1811's all (as far as I know) have to sign mobility agreements prior to receiving an official job offer. Kind of takes the "involuntary" our of it when they pull that form out of your personnel file with your signature on it from 15 or 20 years ago!
