Forbes wants to cut Gov't Pay

Being in budget inside the Beltway... I can think of 100 things to do before cutting fed pay that wouldn't be AS deflationary. But I'm thinking to not give this link to Forbes anymore eyeballs because that's all the authors/editors want... eyeballs and conflict and to politicize our pay... which is a realm we don't want it to go towards.

At least this confirms my notion that Forbes is a financial rag/blog versus anything resembling jounalism integrity.

Thanks bro, and thanks for reminding me, I apologize for the oversight of our Coasties!

I have always used the Suggestion Forms (AF Form 1000) for Spot savings and even got a check, because I saved the Air Force 250,000 in acquisition of Computer Paper! I donated the check to the Airmen's Attic/Thrift Store at Fairchild!!!!

Thanks Elgallo!

Late good morning gentleman.
Been a while :)

Utilizing STEP and CEEP employees, digging resources out of the recycling area, utilizing 27 years experience and providing a cost savings to upstart a program of around 250K, was told on NSPS reconsideration request the amount was minimal savings for the organization. Which Naval Command do you serve under?

Cheers

My suggestion in the Air Force was in 1989, I got $100 for the suggestion of the net savings of $250K.

I do not know if that would even be considered today. I work for NAVSEA.

There use to a program here, think forms are still in boxes along some of the more vacant hallways. Most recognition like this now comes from the branch, division or department level managers, and is few and far between, but that's not to say I don't like fancy certificates or plaques. Raced for trophies all my life, work is no different I guess.
NAVAIR here, have been dealing a tiny bit with NAVSEA via BRAC contract execution, mostly as a technical consultant (not my position). Often thought about looking into North Island, moved away mid 80's, don't think I could afford to get back into the housing market after living in the boondocks for 26 years.

250K here 250k there and pretty soon you talkin about big money. A 250K saving is worth somthing for haveing done so. Let me guess your NSPS pay pool is made up of neumerous arrogant active duty 05/06's. Ours is! Ever have the feeling lately that they want your job when you leave or retire, I know I have.

I would reduce State and Federal expenditures differently...

I would challenge all departments and line items in the budget that did not exist in - say -1968.

Obviously, many of these expenditures can be justified - but, we can use a pre-bloat document as the baseline. There has been bloat on bloat. The bloat has generated a 'need' to manage the bloat. An aweful lot of big gubmint bloat was baked in during the warm and fuzzy times...

Who among us really feel that the number of Federal jobs should have increased over the past two years?

Anyone?

The folks out there will be making demands on us that we are not used to. Soon they will defund us - if they haven't gone Gault on us already...

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'll suffer with an across the board pay cut, if I can be assured that it will go to reducing the deficit ONLY and not some dang liberal entitlement program. It would have to be a very tightly written law and someone that we all can trust to oversee it used the correct way.

Now we just gotta find one honest person in DC. Maybe Charlie Rangel.
