Fivetears Account Talk

I threw the red flag on the field; I'll see. Judging by what others have experienced... the play will stand as called. They have me down for 11:02; 14 minute difference.

There are no dumb questions, right? I'm trying to figure this out before I start doing a bunch of ITF's.

Yesterday I was sitting 100% in L2020 and decided to try an ITF.

I went with 50% to (G) just for kicks just to see what happens with an ITF.

The email I got shows the time of request as 10:52:11 eastern.

Question - That request doesn't take effect till COB on the day of the request?

And if it had been past (when? 11:00 eastern?) it wouldn't have taken effect till COB this evening? (giving me another 24 hours to lose MORE money?)

TIA!

Time of request <12NOON eastern = effective COB that day
Time of request >12NOON eastern = effective COB next day

HOWEVER there is a caveat that IFTs can take up to TWO DAYS to process...which is ridiculous because its all electronic. That caveat dates from the time when IFT's were all done by phone and paper and had to be input MANUALLY.

It might sound like a pain in the butt, but I'd save the webpage after each
and every IFT confirmation. The timestamp of the saved page is proof of
the time. Then again, they could always say your computers Time Sync
is not accurate. They pulled the same crap on me once before. It was
during the Mail Restriction / Fax Only era. At minimum, maybe you can let
them know that you have proof that your IFT occured within the correct
time limit because you save every webpage confirmation for future
reference. Maybe they'll look into the discrepancy a little closer. But you
know how accurate Instant Replay is. I wish you luck in any case. :(

I don't know about your agency, but all our servers are synched with the official US "nuclear clock" in Denver, and that's a documented fact. So any attempt by TSP to say the time synch is not accurate would not stand up in court. Find out what your agency servers are synched to. You can synch up your personal pc's to the official clock as well.

Click the "problems/Questions" button to get this blurb (below), then download the software and your personal PC will be autosynched with the official us timeclock.

Thanks SB & L2R. Y'all have always been good folk on this board. Always a pleasure to read your views and advice. Ya know, what's a few grand in the overall retirement objective. I really shouldn't bitch about having a trade go against me, when others too, have suffered big losses this year. Being a competitor, I just hate being beat; much worse, by myself.

Deep Breath... oooooooooooo$$$$$$$$$$$$hhhhhhhhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittttttttttttt.
There. Better now. :)
Yall have a peaceful day.

NOTHING LIKE FINDING YOUR "CHI" IN THE MIDST OF CAOS.
I can remember missing a IFT opportunity, only to find out
that it benefited my balance in a few days. Its not easy
being us, but we perfer it that way ! ;)

It's nice to read the Fed has plenty of money for the all the poor helpless elite lenders and bankers out there who perhaps purposely screwed themselves, their companies and our nation... while banking on sure government bailouts. Nothing beats ripping off America... TWICE... without consequence and without any say-so from "We the People."

They sure had a $hitload of cash rat-holed in their matresses too, didn't they? S&P 8% in two days... unbelievable.

I'm going back in my hole. 12 more days until I can trade again.

While that was NOT my best executed trade effective on the morning of the 15th (11% Drop ), I've decided to look at it from the most positive standpoint currently available; I haven't any other choice. Rifling back through the TSP share price archives, I discovered the earliest date I could have bought and held (BAH) this pile of C-Fund shares was back on December 24th 2003.

How often do you get a chance to throw 6 figures at nearly a 5 year investment "Do-Over?" :)

The FRTIB does not guarentee the IFT will be processed the same day even though the time stamp is before noon EST. However, I have never had one NOT processed that same day even when the time stamp was 11:59am.

With 10% fund swings in one day, the IFT not going through on the day sent could be a killer. I wish the FRTIB would let us have until at least 3:00 PM EST to make an IFT. I just wonder how much money Barclays makes from the float of all the cash they receive before Noon EST. This gives them several million dollars to invest in the PM before the markets close.

Gumby, Other members on this MB have had issues with their IFT not processing the same day. With this noon EST cut off I feel sorry for those in the other time zones, especially Alaska and Hawaii.

Got four and a quarter back today. Mark these days for the books, to talk to your kids, grandkids, and great grandkids about a couple decades from now. These intra-day point swings are just remarkable. VIX pegs 81.17; remarkable.

Your really at a disadvantage.

Anyone on PST and west is. I get up at 0450 (local) shower and read what everyone else has posted. Leave home at 0600 (1/2 hour before market opens). When I get to work the market has been open for 1/2 hour and I make my decisions by 0815 (1115 ET) and go to morning meetings. Not alot of time to look at what is happening but we play the hand we are dealt as best we can. Now I just need to make enough money to retire and play full time. :o
