Feedback on New Share Price Page

Tom,

I like things in thirds.

The title bars are fine….I have no issues either way on how you format it but I like the way CNN/FOX/BLOOMBERG set up their pages.

But, if you put pictures/charts to the left…..Chunky statements in the middle….and adds and support to the right, it captures the eye more.

Most people in the free world read left to right.

Hit them with pictures first….then give them the documentation to support.

Capture, retain, support their attention……..I’m not a web page expert, but this is how I have my guys are designing their stuff. (On classified network—can’t share).

You have a great product and I’ve been here a few years, so I’m hooked! Dancing girls or not......

But since you're asking, it looks fine to me but to be honest I think you should add some dancing girls...
I'm sure grandma would agree. I'm also glad you are taking this so seriously. Now, how do think this guy is going to print the share price page on a gov't computer with dancing girls on it? Did you think of that?

I have no dog in this fight, I never use it because I use TSP.gov for share prices. I'm just shooting for top poster of the day. But since you're asking, it looks fine to me but to be honest I think you should add some dancing girls...

That almost sounds like a line from Caddyshack! :D But, if you have to dance, then you want to dance with a set, I mean her. :toung:

I like things in the middle, It's the most important to me.
In the middle? Do you mean physically in the middle of the page, or politically? :D

By the way, the share price link is also on the news side of the main page, just under the Dow chart and TSP & Gov News.

So, it sounds like you would prefer a home page with more info rather than a cleaner page with links to specific info, is that correct? Or did I misunderstand?

Thanks for your feedback!

Re: Feedback for New Share Price Page

Thanks Frixxxx. I don't know if you know it, but the link to the share prices is also in the top left menu. I just put the link down where the shares where so people would see that they moved.
Noticed and I'm a true diehard....

I like things in the middle, It's the most important to me. But then again, I haven't paid any money to be here so it all yours. I will use the link on the top left to access that page.

Everything else is ROCKIN!!!!!!!

I'd prefer the link higher on the page.....

Re: Feedback for New Share Price Page

As you may have noticed.....
Printing the information on the website is not something I consider when creating pages. With the price of ink, why would someone want to do that anyway?
I did notice....

I'd prefer the link higher on the page.....

As far as printing, I don't personally do it but then again, couldn't they cut and paste it to another word processor? Keep It Simple Senor?:D

My $0.02:cool:

As you may have noticed, I recently moved the share prices to their own page (www.tsptalk.com/tsp_share_prices.html), mainly because one reader said she was having trouble viewing php pages on her mobile device, which is what the home page is, and she could not read certain things, and in particular the share prices - so I made it it's own html page. It also helped reduce the size of the home page which was becoming rather busy, and busy pages slow things down.

This morning I received an email from someone not happy with the redesigning going on because he says he can no longer print off the share prices from the new page. He says the ads get in the way, and ... "SOMEBODY NEEDS TO RE-THINK ALL THIS WEBPAGE DESIGNING, AND FIX IT SO I/WE CAN PRINT OFF THE DAILY SHARE PRICES AGAIN!!"

Printing the information on the website is not something I consider when creating pages. With the price of ink, why would someone want to do that anyway?

I would appreciate your feedback on this change. Is it causing you any heartache?

By the way, I had no problem printing the page myself.
