I'm posting Friday's commentary early, before I go out of town...

Rebound, but a troubling sign persists- The Dow did a complete reversal of Tuesday's 142-points on Wednesday, mounting a 151-point rebound. The Nasdaq and Dow Transports led the way, while the S&P 500 is still negotiating the 1200 level...

great info this week ... on nov 12, i allocated 100% into the S fund, but i felt bearish by the end of this week and allocated 100% into the G fund ... perhaps sentiment will prevail and i will be back into a 50/50 with C and S by dec 7 or dec 20 ... however, i am shying away from the I fund until the international situation settles down ... the korean situation is still volatile and spain may well collapse ... either way, it may be a couple months before the I fund comes back to life ... but when it does, it's gonna be a good run ...

Hi Rusty!
Agree. With Ireland and other european countries dropping like flies, and the situation with N & S Korea, the dollar may continue to pressure on the I-fund.

i am new to this, so please forgive my lack of knowledge. i have been an FERS employee for 4 years now ... i think i made one interfund transfer a couple years ago to do a 25% split among C,S,I and L2020 ... otherwise, i've been doing a 33% CSI contribution allocation with 12% of my salary ... recently i bumped it up to the max $634/pay period ... and that's when i started paying attention ... my current balance is $34,290 ... according to TSP.gov, i've gained about $2100 since 10-01-2010 and my 12-month return is 17.69% ... i feel pretty good about it all, but i want to do better ... like i said, i did a 100% S allocation about 2 weeks ago ... then friday, i did a 100% G allocation ... ok, that's the history ...

where do i go from here?

I don't know Rusty. That's a pretty broad question. Are you asking - What fund do I go in? What strategy should I use?

Maxing out contributions is a great start, but you might want to start thinking about what kind of account you want to manage - a marrket timing approach, a buy and hold approach, etc.
