Storms kill 72 around South, including 58 in Ala.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – A wave of tornado-spawning storms strafed the South on Wednesday, splintering buildings across hard-hit Alabama and killing 72 people in four states.
At least 58 people died in Alabama alone, including 15 or more when a massive tornado devastated Tuscaloosa. The mayor said sections of the city that's home to the University of Alabama have been destroyed, and the city's infrastructure is devastated.
Eleven deaths were reported in Mississippi, two in Georgia and one in Tennessee. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110428...zZWMDeW5fdG9wX3N0b3J5BHNsawNzdG9ybXNraWxsNzI-

Amen! Understand this is the most tornados ever in a 24 hour period in Alabama. Death toll is over 150 with that number expected to grow. I saw the tops of 40 foot pine trees touch the ground in my back yard last night and that was just straight line winds with no tornados involved (Central Alabama). Continue to pray for those affected!

Tornadoes devastate South, killing at least 266

Massive tornadoes tore a town-flattening streak across the South, killing at least 266 people in six states and forcing rescuers to carry some survivors out on makeshift stretchers of splintered debris. Two of Alabama's major cities were among the places devastated by the deadliest twister outbreak in nearly 40 years.

Now it's Global Storming and 40 years ago it was the coming Ice Age? What ever the reason this is terrible.:worried:

No, but it's great to see you my long lost friend!:D
Thank you - I will say that I've felt lost -sitting on the lily pad!

I hope that some of 'talk's Alabama readers will share with us how they are doing. One of the VA employees here in NW Arkansas was among several that got carried out of her trailer home by rescuers wading chest high water.
She's fine - but flash floods can really scare you, besides losing absolutely everything material.
-more storms coming through ...:worried:

If anybody wants to donate money directly to a family whose house was destroyed in the tornadoes, send me a PM, and I will send you their email address that you can use to send money directly to them, via Paypal.
