CorMaGa34 Account Talk

CorMaGa34,
I noticed your message on EW_ret's thread about leaving the MB and I'm really glad you decided to stay. You have been a huge source of inspiration for many of us and it would have been an incredibly big loss for everyone. Also noticed you're back in the game and making some gains :D.

GL - and thank you for staying.

Thanks so much for the trip down memory lane, CorMaGa!

I remember anxiously checking my watch during Saturday morning grocery shopping trips with my mom, because I might miss American Bandstand. And long involved discussions about whether Paul or George was the cutest Beatle. And all the parents in the neighborhood being shocked at the lyrics to "House of the Rising Sun".

Times have sure changed.:toung:

Very nice indeed, thankyou. I graduated in 1965 and those were my coming of age years. I hit the shores of Vietnam in November 1967 and ended up leaving the country in July 1969. Check this website: http://www.chu65nang67.us/nam/vietnam.html

Birch, You are welcome. I met in DC a lot of guys that came back maimed from Nam, it gave me a whole new perspective on life (like, hey this is what real life is, welcome to the USA) as I was still in my forming years it made a tremendous impression on me and made me want to change the world somewhat (I'm still trying:D). And they had and still have my deepest respect and gratitude.

Did you participate in Tom's son's homework project on Nam vets?
I think you would have been an excellent subject to interview.

On another subject, I am trying to post a RealPlayer video that I think most will enjoy. I saved it to Photobucket so I could upload and download it here but I can't. Do you know who can help me with that?

CorMaGa34

Thanks CorMaGa34! Lot of memories. Use to take sides who was the best- Herman Hermits or the Monkeys. It surely was a lot simpler then.

The Monkees of course! Because they had their own TV show. MTV was NOT the first with music videos.;)

It was very different back in the 1950-60s. Not better, just different.

I recently had an immigrant from the former Soviet Union ask me why America changed in the 1960-70s, i.e. became more permissive and chaotic?

My response was that the authority figures lost their credibility with the Baby Boom generation because of the Vietnam War and the Civil Rights Movement. In other words, since they had been wrong on Vietnam and Civil Rights, what did they know? Lets have sex, do drugs, burn down cities, and scare the cr*p out of the adults.----Jim

EFuel100 MicroFueler - Home Ethanol Micro Refinery

May 9th, 2008 by Paul Crowe - "The Kneeslider"

With gasoline rapidly becoming a luxury item, the EFuel100 MicroFueler might be just the ticket. You just set this up next to your garage, plug into 110 or 220 volts, route to a wastewater drain, add sugar, yeast and water and in a couple of days you pump ethanol into your tank at a cost of about $1.00 per gallon. It makes 5 gallons per day. Hmm …
The MicroFueler is $9,995, but federal tax credits can cut the price to $6,998. $16 buys yeast for 560 gallons of ethanol, each gallon requires 4 gallons of water. You need a permit from the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms to make the stuff and you can’t run E100 in your motorcycle or car, it’s illegal for some reason, so you put in some gas at your local station then drive home and top up from your ethanol pump to make E85 or thereabouts. There is also a distillation only mode which you use to recover ethanol from discarded liquor and beer. (Who discards beer?) This is crazy cool.
E-Fuel Corporation makes this little refinery which will begin shipping at the end of the year though you can pre order now. Maybe it’s just me but if this works as well as described, I think they’ll sell a ton of these. VERY cool!

LOL! That's a modified moonshine still! There's probably a few unmodified ones around your neck of the woods....Which is why ATF permit is required. You can't put the product in your vehicle without the gasoline mix because of taxes - without the gas, it's alcohol (fermented sugar). Dang revnooers!
(note: refinery = distillery)

Cornellia ,

How's my girl ? - the one I remember always wearing sunglasses wherever she goes. The young woman who kind of strolled and swayed across the room - in a lively - lovely - wonderful spirit - to the tune of "Black Magic Woman". The one who waited for the migrant workers to go on break (waiting patiently in the car) only to deliver them the nicest items - and watch their faces lite up. And probably my favorite of all - the one singing "LADY" and the other songs to the ladies working at the soup kitchen.

I'd have to say - very few - (if any) - leave me feeling so good or cause me to smile as much when I think about them.

Have a super WONDERFUL WEEKEND !!

I hope you moved to safety the same day I did - if not don't worry my sweet it will rise back up.

My Dearest Friend Steady,

You are indeed one of a kind! You are not only smart, loving, considerate, and very well informed about domestic and international issues, but you are also an extraordinary human being! It is not only surprising that you would visit my thread twice this month, but that you would remember all these minor details shared throughout our friendship.

Please do continue to enlighten us with your wisdom and your wit, we look forward to your postings. The MB family that we are keeps growing - now you also have a kid brother - and that is so cool!

Thank you for your concern on my TSP. I was able to move to capital preservation last week after our funds went up some.

Thank you for this posting and not forgetting that I am still here, made me feel very special indeed.:toung: Hope you are relaxing and enjoying your long weekend!

I fund ended up at 22.62 yesterday, last time I saw it close to that price was end of March, and from there it only went up. This may be a good entry point, thinking if I should jump in or wait for it to go down to 21. Decisions, decisions...
Any comments will be most welcome...

Hi,

Sorry I just saw your post. I'd get in today or tomorrow. Quad witching next week and I think the I fund will see a nice bounce. Of course if the dollar continues to strengthen I fund will not do as well. C/S are still good bets though for a short rally. Do you read Heres14u thread? It's worth checking out.

Hi luv2read,

I did not jump in yesterday. I am getting so chicken about doing IFTs that one of these days I am afraid I will wake up with chicken wings . I fund was always one of my favorite funds, but it really has not done well this year. However, I may jump in today and add a % to CSI, not sure yet. I read Here's14U's thread every day, he is one of my gurus and I really appreciate what he does sharing of his knowledge with us.

Thank you for your reply. I always read your threads and find them most informative, and of course some of them are quite funny and witty:D

Have a good day!

iShares EAFE: Money Flow Leader

June 19, 2008 4:55 p.m.

iShares MSCI EAFE Index topped the list in late trading on Thursday for Buying on Weakness, which tracks stocks that fell in price but had the largest inflow of money.

Cornellia,
I knew the I Fund held a special interest for you.

This is very good news for you, my dear! When money pours in "on weakness" that's going to push it high.

I'm stuck in S Fund (which should pan out over time) - if I were in G Fund - would probably move to I Fund in light of this.
