Someplace in these threads, Lobo are posts about checking our banks/credit unions' stability. Just where, I am not sure, but if you will check with Bankrate.com, you will be able to click specially for credit unions.

I tried checking Bankrate.com for Pentagon Federal Credit Union and Hickam Federal Credit Union. Neither one was listed. My local credit union shows only two stars.


I bank and have mortgage in the Well Fargo Bank.

coolhand- that video is just what I need to show my family - it is pretty specific on the comparisons. And having the website to check on their local banks is a plus. Thank you.

Nice to hear you found it useful. I've been using a CU since 1980. It's been far and away a much better deal and they actually apply sound financial practices. Imagine that! :nuts:

Thank You, Grandma!! Bankrate shows my CU with assets of 100 million and a 4-star rating! Good to know. I appreciate that info!!

On the subject of bank/credit union ratings, I've been noticing a decline in the Navy Federal Credit Union's ratings over the last two years at bankrate.com, apparently due to credit card issues. Just a thought for anyone over their NCUA limit. Anyone else noticing that? Do they have connections like Wall Streeters to make them too big to fail?:worried:

I personally don't use any of those sites myself, but I've read numerous stories of people (including kids) being targeted on them. Seems like there's few places to really be safe. It's sad.
