I saw a documentary of the Thunderbirds practicing their maneuvers while sitting around a conference table. Their squad leader would count out the timing and all the squad would make the maneuvers at the proper time using imaginary equipment. Then when it came time to do the actual air show the squad leader did the same counts through the headphones.
It was an interesting program.
I've always wondered,XL-entLady, how they practiced. There's no room for errors on even the first airborne practice!
Don't you know that must be some kind of pride in being able to do that, even, maybe more so, the squad leader's role! I don't mean the boastful, grandiose pride, but the inner knowledge that you've been granted a rare talent & have accomplished its goal..... the kind that makes a grin come to your mouth & a sparkle in you eyes. That's a special kind of club, but I guess there are many of those in many things our military have to do, including outer space guys!!
