Chrysler Autoworkers Caught on Camera Drinking Beer, Smoking Pot During Break

I don't think they should be HIGH at work around all of that moving machinery, but crap they had nothing to do with the Bailout! So they should be disciplined, it happens every day in America, if not in a parking lot in a fancy restaurant. GET OUT!

I was going to turn the wrench,
But I got high
I thought it'd be a cinch,
But I got high

Now there's a f@ck!nG recall,
And I know why,
(why man?)
Cause I got high
Cause I got high
Cause I got high

When my daughter was a teenager I told her I would prefer she smoke some pot and stay away from cigaretts. So that worked out just fine. Her current employer drug tested her hair which can go back years and she was clean. She does like her wine though.

Followup: Chrysler workers caught drinking during lunch suspended without pay

by Zach Bowman (RSS feed) on Sep 24th, 2010 at 1:01PM

Chrysler has announced that all 15 of the employees who were apparently caught drinking and smoking pot during their lunch break by a Fox 2 News Detroit crew have been suspended indefinitely without pay. The workers from the company's Jefferson North Assembly Plant were spotted drinking heavily during their lunch breaks over a ten-day period. Chrysler says that all of the individuals had been identified and relieved of their duty within 36 hours of the company learning of the problem.

The company also says that while the video seems pretty cut-and-dry, it must adhere to its protocol when it comes to removing those workers permanently. Chrysler also stressed that each of its vehicles goes through an extensive quality control system and that it doesn't condone the behavior documented in the news report in any way. Chrysler's Jefferson North plant employs a total 2,500 workers.

Whew, I hope they don't come down to where I work here @ DHS, they might be just as horrified, HA! Look up that danish beer maker "carlsberg" (one of the best beers out there IMHO). They almost had an employee revolt on their hands a while ago, wanna know why? They took away the "benefit" of (and I'm not kidding) DRINKING ON THE JOB! They sanctioned it of course but get THIS; EVEN the DRIVERS were allowed to have one during working hours! I'll look up the article and post it. (found it) here it is, in short it says, now workers can only consume 1 beer per working day but the drivers..(YES I SAID DRIVERS) still get to consume 3 a day hahahahahahaha! SIGN ME UP!:laugh::laugh::suspicious: get this quote from the article

"Some employees may think they're not affected by three beers. But if you're not affected after three drinks, then you have a serious alcohol problem."

(I'm just gettin started at 3, maybe I need help?.... NAH!.... I call it stress relief from government work,) On a serious note a time magazine article last month mentioned that a new study shows those who drink moderately live longer than those who don't drink, and they think it is due to stress relief (in short) Look it up. (but don't say I told you to go out and start drinking!)

Chrysler fires 13, lays off 2 in taped lunch escapade

Alisa Priddle / The Detroit News

Chrysler Group LLC has fired 13 workers and temporarily sidelined two more caught on tape drinking and using drugs in a park during their lunch break, before returning to build Jeep Grand Cherokees at the Jefferson North plant.

The disciplinary actions were announced Monday following an investigation that began last week after Chrysler saw video of the actions from WJBK-TV, Channel 2. WJBK was tipped off by concerned co-workers.

"It has been determined that 13 employees engaged in behavior that violated the company's Standards of Conduct and these 13 employees were discharged today (Monday). Two remaining employees will receive a one-month disciplinary layoff without pay," Chrysler said in a statement.

The automaker said the swift justice makes it "clear that Chrysler Group will not tolerate such behavior and will continue to evaluate its protocols to ensure that something like this does not happen again."
Both the automaker and the United Auto Workers have said the workers identified do not reflect the majority of the work force at the Jeep plant.

Thanks Birch :)

This one warmed my heart.

I told my kids so many majorly insane things - to try to prepare them for the horror stories I'd heard happen to others....

When taking 'medications' saying 'Mmmm candy ... do you want some'?

I'm sure I would have said numerous things about drugs and alcohol as though, 'Hey it's cool'

Gosh come to think of it - I'd make up some 'R' or 'X' rated movie and ask them 'with eager expectation' -- Hey you want to watch this one?

That's bound to be more of a 'guy thing' and I think the bigger part of me said a bunch of things -- crazy like that -- to make life a little more fun and spontaneous.

She's a good kid Birch - turned out top notch

LOL. Schools and day care centers are still open.

Once the technology to replace with machines is there, they won't need to come back to work, ever.
