Chrysler Autoworkers Caught on Camera Drinking Beer, Smoking Pot During Break

Fifteen of the workers have been suspended pending investigation.

"The United Auto Workers strongly opposes the use of controlled substances or alcohol use on the job," the United Auto Workers the union said in part of its statement Thursday. "This type of behavior jeopardizes the health and safety of all employees. We also recognize that, unfortunately, these behaviors exist in our society."

No matter how tedious the work, illegal activity should not be allowed and self medicating should not be the easy out.

There are safety factors to take into consideration with the onset of Universal Health Care (UHC). Illicit drug use, driving under the influence, speeding and reckless driving to get to and from work, the liquor store, drug dealer, and park. Lets not allow liver and lung damage to be paid for by the taxpayers.

Safety of coworkers paid for by workman's comp. Cost over runs due to mistakes that may or may not cause catastrophic failure of the vehicle that could injure owner, passengers, bystander, or other occupants of other vehicles also paid for by UHC.

I'm just saying, we got to think about the greater good here. ;)

Back to the original topic...these guys are STOOPID! What morons.

Doing this crap at lunch and going back to work just don't cut it with me. After work? Sure. Weekend? Fine.

At lunch? Nope. View attachment 10010pillepalle.gif

Meanwhile...back at the ranch...

Chevrolet Assembly workers roll out the new Chevy Cruze - a car that is designed so well, and built so well, it has people talking about it, and standing in line to buy them.

Small scale production began in July, and full-scale production began September 8th. They are built by American workers in Lordstown, Ohio.

It's selling so well, they've put on a third shift already in order to try and meet demand. And it's not even delivered yet to most dealers- they are just now starting to flow out to dealerships.

Looks like the Cruze is going to be a hit:

Ucking Fugly!!! I haven't heard of any such standing in line for them around here or people standing in large groups talking about this car....You might want to speak with a little more reality and FACT, rather than exaggeration.

I think we have found common ground...

Why is this news? They were off the clock and off the property. If they were getting a 'quicky' with their loved one, would that be news too? How is how these off the clock workers spend their time tied to the tax payer bailout? We aren't holding the bailout CEO's responsible for their antics on the job let alone off the job - read coolhand's latest post from MISH. This belongs on OMG tv.

I would never condon on the job drinking or getting a buzz on...Either substance is an ambition inhibitor while under the influence ( I speak from experience).....However, After work, that's different story..as long as you don't drink and drive or smoke and drive..Just stay home for Christ sakes and enjoy the buzz...
Having said that..I would much rather work with someone who partied with pot the night before, than someone that boozed it up..for one thing, the boozer stinks of alcohol through their skin..disgusting..and the Pothead is usually right as rain and ready for work without a hangover..

"There's been a phenomenal response. We have customers waiting to buy them," said Len Gripp, a salesman at C. Harper Chevrolet in Belle Vernon, among more than 80 dealers from Pittsburgh, Altoona, Harrisburg, Buffalo and Rochester who saw their first Cruze models Wednesday at Lordstown.

They toured the assembly plant and drove both the Cruze and Honda Civics on a small test track, which GM included to show off its claims of superior features. The Cruze replaces the Chevy Cobalt, also made at Lordstown.

"It's much improved from the vehicle we've been selling the last several years," said Martin Cumba, president of Sun Chevrolet in McMurray. "This is the car we wish we'd had four or five years sooner.

you would want pot head to build your car? lol imagine they miss a screw and ur door fly open on the highway, it's a little extreme but cmon man, who the hell do that during the day.

Law87,

I'm not worried about potheads. If you have ever watched a pothead operate you will see they are more cautious than normal. I would be worried about the drinking of those huge beers except for one thing. If you have ever toured a modern car factory, you will immediately see how tedious the jobs are. The workers do the same thing over and over again and they could probably do it in their sleep. Certainly, pot is not going to cause them to forget to do the same movements over and over, but alcohol may slow them down.

I have toured a BMW 300 series plant in Germany and all the men had two large beers in their beer holders right at their stations for these workers to drink on the job (I asked why that was allowed and the tour guide said it was it their contract). I then watched as the hydraulic systems did all the work of lifting the heavy parts to the main part of the car and then held it while six bolts were tighten. A orangutan could have done the job (ok I'm thinking of Planet of the Apes:cheesy:) but the point is pot and alcohol are not my worry. A disgruntled employee AND a pissed off inspector are my worries. Lets not forget the car saleman, which requires I get loaded to deal with their antics :suspicious:

I knew guys that were better at night fighting in Vietnam when they were high due to the enhancement of sensory stimuli.
