Chris Dorner in gun battle with police right now

Obviously neither of the above two posters bothered to listen to the tape or have seen the video. The fire was not started by gas canisters. The tape and the video show that the responding officers set the building on fire intentionally. That is why I say I don't think it's justifiable.

Fine- you believe whatever you all want to believe.

Have a nice day.

I didn't listen to the video until now. Still a good operation, they used fire as a driver instead of gas.

In your assumptions you're forgetting some basic facts. Dorner had just killed another police officer at the cabin and vowed he would not be taken alive. If he had stuck his head in a window, what would they have done? They would have blown his head off. They were cleared to shoot. Dorner was given instructions to walk out of the cabin and surrender, he would not be harmed. He decided against it.

Setting the fire was NOT to kill Dorner. It was to drive him out so he could be captured. Sounds like he killed himself inside once they tore the walls down...typical coward.

All the facts will come out, but it sounds like a good operation. The bad guy gets to have the bad day, not the good guys.

Have a nice day too.

Usually if there is a fire, it starts from one or more of the gas canisters touching furniture, drapes, carpet etc after being thrown in. They don't always ignite, but it does happen. The point of the gas is to drive the person out of the building so they can be taken into custody. If a fire starts, it will usually do the same thing...drive the person out of the building. The ones who don't come out of the building are the ones who want to die, either in the building or suicide by cop...but they don't intend on being taken alive. Good tactics also dictate that you do not storm the place with a team..that would also be a suicide mission against a person like Dorner hiding inside. So the standard practice is break the windows, send in the gas, and wait for them to come out into the open.

I see that the Left didn't take long to put their talking points memo out on the street. There's been a fair share of stupid things said on this Board over the years but these posts about law enforcement murdering Dorner really take the cake. The rubble is still smoldering but the conspiracy theories are already flying around and the rush to judgement has been made. The possibilities for the fire are many yet some are so eager to lay blame at who they want to bear responsibility.

Have you no shame?

Well Buster, I do not condone murder under any circumstances. Period.

I believe in self-defense, in which someone has no other choice but to kill the person attacking them- but in the case where one can remove themselves from the line of fire, and protect any bystanders, that then moving to execute them without judge and conviction in a court of law may be murder, and should be treated as such . Period.

Doesn't matter if it's Branch Davidian or California former Naval officer- if there is not a need to kill, then it's possible it may be murder.

Mcvey got his day in court_ had a trial. Had a jury and was given a sentence according to law.

This time- no court- no trial. No jury, just a death sentence.

I'm sure many others have a different opinion- but I am sure some others might also think that "though shall not commit murder" too. I'm just asking- what do you think? Where on the scale would you put it?

Legal homicide, or Illegal homicide?

Manslaughter? Murder?

There are various degrees of culpability-
Homicide - Definition and More from the Free Merriam-Webster Dictionary

Where in the sliding scale would you put it?

Police intentionally set fire to the building in order to kill Dorner.

Would you consider that murder?

In a remote area like this I bet they would like that capability. Push in the gas and wait for him to come out is most likely.
