Brits4life Account Talk

Loan amount is limited to less than I need and that is another monthly payment. There is no distribution penalty, just the tax.

Does it have to be all or nothing. Could you take a loan for part of what you need? i.e. the home down payment since that has the longest payback period (lowest payment) and take a distribution for the rest. Note. Might want to do the loan first since the distribution will reduce the amount available to borrow? Just a thought. How close are you to retirement? i.e. a loan would have to be repaid when you retire or it would be treated as a distribution which may not be such a bad thing. Could allow for a little tax planning. i.e. income in retirement may be less and be in a lower bracket?

What would you do if you did not have TSP? What would be your options?

Like many others the housing crash evaporated the equity the bank and I thought I had into the vapors.

yeesh....thought I had an idea but reviewing the posting again it isn't going to work. I'll put my thinking cap back on.

That's OK, half those vapors are hers. At least you don't owe her equity. Also, hopefully there's not much (if any) income disparity between you two. That creates problems too, best of luck to you.

Stocks skid on renewed worries about Europe

"The U.S. housing market could be in focus early Tuesday, with the government's monthly report on new home sales expected before the market opens."

I've been house shopping on the east coast of Florida, looking for a 4/3 on a half acre or so. Heard from my realtor today that 9 of 12 MLS listings I sent her have contracts on them! Makes me wonder about the houseing report due this week.

Looking at the closing 30 minutes or so we saw a bit of a sell-off. Just curious if anyone had an opinion about it, just typical profit taking after taking a beating for while, or perhaps continued lack of confidence in the market. Or perhaps just noise?:D

The gains made today are important. Buyers won't see nothing but a daily green candle, and a gain made today. The gas is there, the pump is primed, a little spark can go a long way...

Sure hope you're right. I could use a little spark right now.

Happy Birthday to you, Brits4life!
Maybe the market will help all of us in `S' by giving you a great day today!:D
