What is the difference between a daily and simple moving average? My charts have Simple Moving Average and Des was saying we are above the 20 and 50 day moving average. I would like to use the daily ones but can't find them on Free Stock Charts.

MA is implied simple moving average (SMA), where EMA is exponential moving average; different than the SMA. Take a look at Investopedia for specific definitions, but the EMA is smoother than SMA.

Daily just means the moving average you are using is based on daily closing values. You can use moving averages on any time frame, depending on your trading horizon.

Thanks. I went to the 30 min. time frame and there more like daily than weekly.

Here's what I got and it seems to follow what I want better.:)

I hope this resistance breaks soon.:)
There is a couple of resistance lines in there that need breaking if we are to continue to the upside. I hope tomorrow provides some significant momentum to the upside. If it is not there then I will likely lick my wounds and go hibernate. Best of luck to you and keep posting the charts! They work nicely for the short ranges and I use them to estimate longer trend lines.

Well we had a nice consolidation day between resistance and support.:)
That's very good after yesterdays move.
Here's the chart.
I'm so glad to be in the top 100 just barely.:D Did drop to 162.

Wow the market is going up faster than I can do my resistance points. Almost:D

Here's the chart: Redrew last channel and a bull channel.:)

We just broke another resistance level and I see we can make another 1% on this run. Should I get greedy and stay or go 50/50?:suspicious:
Shorts may cover now.

Reentering the capital preservation mode. Not being a hog. On the lillypad with one foot in the water. 70%G 30%S. 2 more IFTs tomorrow.:D

Thought about it but I am staying in for now. Next couple of weeks could see some good action and, if things start to tank again I will have a move to safety and then another to get back in later in the month. For now I am looking for 1261 - 1285 as a target range with a possible breakout above 1300. I hope I am right this time!

Well tomorrow we'll retest the top of the old channel and see if we continue up. By the bull flag we should go up more but WTO or ITF or somebody always has something to say about Europe after we reach new highs. I was hurt preaty bad when I took the chance out of Capital Preservation Mode and made it back but I might not get that aggressive again.:notrust: This seemed to me to be a good point to take 70% off because of past 4% swings. It should be buy the dips above the 200 day but remember last time we just crossed it. Just hedging my bets here. Saw a few enter today. Wish them luck. I have 30% working.:)

Here's the chart. You decide.

Bquat,

This may be a replay of the consolidation we got the other day...now which direction does little bull say we're going?

If you ask little bull he says up and little bear say down so I gess a day of consolidation. I was hoping for a little down side and a setting of a higher low.:) Spidey just had a slight sense of doom because thing were getting to good to be true. Remember the ups and downs before after great news to dire news. I just got worried, I guess.:worried:

I would like a retest of 1235 and maybe the 200 day. A touch and go would be great.:)
Here for you.:D Chart, yes?
