Birchtree's Account Talk

Banks are leading this late day rally. The relative performance of banks in 2012 tells me that this rally is probably closer to its beginning than to its end. I believe equities are heading much higher in 2012.

When E.F. Hutton (or Birchtree) talks, people listen. :D

One who buys right must stand still in order to run fast. We are in a multiyear secular bull market - actually a continuation of the 1982 mega trend secular bull market.

Now where was I - oh yes. "At the end of February, the S&P 100 had a 12-month forward price/earnings ratio of 12.1, while the Russell's multiple was 15.4. That means investors are paying 27% more for small caps based on valuations. Since 1999, when the premium was greater than 25% at month's end, megacaps have outperformed small caps by an average of 3.7 percentage points over the following 12 months. With the market likely to oscillate between periods of fear-inspired selling and all-is-well buying, megacaps are likely to provide investors with a smoother ride. During the past five years, megacaps have been only about three-quarters as volatile as small caps."

HO Hum - I have been hearing this buy C buy I fund from you for a long time - But who is still higher on the tracker and which fund consistently gets bought here more on TSPTalk?

Okay you win...Bye C, Bye I... buh-bye!! :p

Me thinks this is still a liquidity driven rally. As long as the Fed continues to print money the market can continue to power higher. It's important to be cognizant of the VIX level because a blind side can hit at any moment - but that is no reason to cluck too soon. Sometimes a little pain is necessary for more gain.

You're smart to keep your eye on the VIX. The only question is... are you selling into strength to lighten up your positions, or just sitting on some cash and waiting to take advantage of a buying opportunity?

I'm obviously in the latter.

I have 105 dividends posting to my oceanic account in March - so they are doing the buying currently. I'll have to plan on some selling in a few weeks to cover my taxes. Otherwise, I'm just cooling my jets and remaining full bore until our internal rotations calm down.

My daughter just informed me that she is being sent to Switzerland for three weeks in preparation for her new assignment. She will be leading a team based both in Switzerland and San Francisco - travel is no obstacle to Captain Buzz. The Army treated her just fine. She is becoming a jet setter.

Shazam! That's awesome! Congratulation, Pops! :)

Ooh, BAC just went above $9 - that's my strike price for another big bite. I'm hearing more negativism which I like. The bus travels faster with fewer on board.

With the stress test behind them there should be little or no fear. Bought this at $4.20 and $5.00 in 2009. On the bus, and not getting off. Personal target - $12.50
