Birchtree's Account Talk

Gasperino thinks the downgrade talk will firm up Monday. He sees the statement by the Prez where he actually said there was a possibility of default (in Friday's petulant rant, hastily called to control the spin) irresponsible. I don't know why he expects anything different given the man's training. So now we have a problem. The market tanks while some are out of IFTs.

It was a good framing of the debate when the Community Organizer in Chief said it was better to cut Defense than Food Stamps. Incredible waste in both but without one you don't get the second.

There was an article in today's paper about a Feb. 20 receipt from Angeli's Country Market in menomunee, Mich., that was found in the parking lot of the market. The store confirms that it is authentic. It shows the buyer bought six cold-water lobsters, two porterhouse steaks and six 24-packs of Diet Mountain Dew, and the bill of $141.78 was covered by food stamps. Now ain't that cute. The perp resold the goods for 50 cents on the dollar. Buying lobster and steak with food stamps doesn't break any law or federal guidlines. Let me see now, I think $70 would buy 1/4 ounce of fine high grade Mary Jane.

I think it was Show-me that described food stampers buying steaks and reselling them outside the market. As long as we continue with Jimmy's/ilk philosophy the "program income stream" will continue. The food stamp abusers are not worried about being caught. Jimmy/ilk are focused on giving the money out with the thinking someone somewhere deserves help....someone, not everyone. We just need to accept this new generous (with OPM) thinking.

All of these free government handouts are being abused and nobody in Washington has the chahunas to rectify it. Not to get into a debate, but I have seen food stamps abused first hand.

I really do not like getting too deep into politics because no one really wins the argument. :D But I love this quote. The information comes from an article written in GovernmentExecutive.com. http://www.govexec.com/story_page.cfm?articleid=48327&oref=todaysnews

"Appearing earlier in the day on Fox News Sunday, Boehner jabbed at Obama's insistence on a long-term ceiling hike, "I know the president's worried about his next election, but my God, shouldn't we be worried about the country?""

Isn't this what both sides are doing????? They are all worried about getting re-elected. IMO come election time everyone of these jerks need to be replaced.

A moment with TWSJ. "Profits were the highest in four years among S&P 500 companies that posted earnings during the first third of the second-quarter reporting season, and three quarters of all companies that have reported for the period have topped analysts' expectations. An S&P analyst predicts the second half will be even stronger". Buy and hold is my best approach to making money.

I totally agree… If I were out of the market right now, I would be looking for an entry point… Corporations are doing very well right now… I’m pretty sure that I read a Bloomberg article that stated it was a little over 80% are beating Expectations… I just hope the politicians can get their act together this week to tone down the Market Fear Factor… I’m keeping my fingers crossed as I ride it out with ya…:cool:

I had 3 dividend reinvestments come home yesterday and another 3 due today - so all is not lost. I can handle taking another hit to my accounts which might boost me a few ranks up the tracker. My oceanic is probably 85% small cap weighted so I feel the pain when small caps recede - but I do gain some traction in my tugboat account (TSP). One more day of S fund underperformance would be kosher.

The House phone lines are clogged - probably the 44 million food stamp recipients know as welfare queens using their cell phones. They should thank me for paying their cell phone bills so they can participate in our great democracy and follow Obummer over the clif. Did you know that single mothers are six times more likely to be in poverty than married families?

My eunuch president is now threatening a veto of any new Boehner bill - I some how doubt it. Send in the clowns - never mind they're already here.

That's very funny Birch!! That was one classic song, "Send in the clowns" ... from Stephen Sondheim. A jazz standard now!

I'm now sitting at #87 on the tracker and I'm waiting for a $22.50 price on the I fund to shift some money back into the C fund.
