Birchtree's Account Talk

Re: Birchtree's account talk

"We can't help but note that if the market can find support and push back up through the diagonal joining the two highs then a massive Rev ersal is in prospect. As Q2 earnings data released over the coming weeks, market direction will be dictated by the strength or otherwise of corporate profitability and with Q2 GDP due out also this month."

I'm prepared either direction, Birch, are you? :cheesy: No, you have your plan, I have mine, and that's all fine. All I want for Christmas is a weekly cross-up or ADX signal as previously noted, maybe I'll get one by then. We'll see. If not, I'll wait for a lower entry. A really lower entry, or 2 or 3, or 4. I can wait. I'm patient. Dumb maybe, but patient.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Patience is good but be prepared with jogging shoes to run and catch the train. Financial assets do best in times of low inflationary growth and we will remain with low inflation for several years to come. We have seen the bottom and a healthy run back to SPX 1300 may happen in a dynamic manner. I'm looking forward to buying this market for the next five years. Currently bearish sentiment on AAII is at 54.65% - higher than any other point since March 5th - a contrarian sign for sure.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Birch,
I leave the 'smart talk' stuff to you, Alevie, Coolhand, Uptrend and a few others.

I'm more 'an odds' man - and considering the decent, but neccessary, correction we recently underwent I suspect some substantial gains are in line for the future.

BTW - I thought about you quite a bit when I read The Shack and think you'd really enjoy it.

I wonder why Lakes have such an awesome feel ? To me they are prettier than a field of flowers. It's like there is some kind of magnetic sensation to them; but the Grand Tetons had the same kind of effect.

Re : Birchtree's account talk

I'm chomping on the bit to spend some money - but my discipline says not until you have a rally to chase - so I wait. I see the enigmatic Sarah Palin is going after our inexperienced socialist on cap and trade. Finally a lone voice in the wilderness taking up the cause.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Decided to choose a few more lovely wall flowers: LII, STL. STI, FTR, STD, GB. Tomorrow is another day for more shopping.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Intel earnings could be worth a 200 point gain tomorrow. The principle of symmetry may be ready to kick start the SPX. I'm still waiting on my first ever $100K week of gains. I feel like that song from Canned Heat - "On The Road Again."

Re: Birchtree's account talk

In bull markets, four down weeks tend to be followed by strength. Today confirmed the big rally and overnight the futures are remaining strong. Tomorrow could be the trap to roast a few bears. I'll be spending money if we rally - the more I spend the more I make and the more I can make the more spending power I gain. Could the C fund break $11 by Friday or will I get one more last purchase in the $10 range. I realize these golden prices are coming to an end.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

This will not be a roll over day. The VIX closed out yesterday at 25,02 down 1.29 and will go lower today. I think the Dow is on the run to catch the Nikkie at 9238. The NYSE could top 6000 today and pull me deep into the buying phase - I'm so ready. The dollar is weaker and that will encourage commodity stocks and export companies and the value of the I fund. Symmetry, yes I see symmetry and a 300 pointer would confirm. Snort.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

I believe we will get stronger as the day progresses - well into the 200 pointer. However, the VIX is being stubborn today. It was down to 24.15 off 0.87 and then rebounded to 25. Creating a sense of hope for the shorts but only a head fake for the bears. My oceanic account is up $40K on the day so far leaving the door open for purchases: GCI, TRW, WTU, WMZ, PCX, MSB, TSM, AVA, ENH, ELX, FE, FPO. If we do rack the 200 banger I'll be back to chase the market with more buying.

That Stubborn VIX has me calling it quits.:suspicious:

Re: Birchtree's account talk

The VIX may eventually drop at the end of the day like yesterday. I'm going to ride this bull until the shelves are empty. I'm not getting off the train until we reach NY. Hit me with your best shot.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

These Donkeys are such fools - how many minority at risk members of the population can a windmill keep warm. We need oil and gas drilling, coal, nuclear power up the zing - these industries will provide freedom from OPEC. Put people to work with a new and improved CCA type program. Infrastructure needs repair and prople will work until the economy begins to improve with better opportunities. When I was in High School I got a job planting grass on highway hillsides - not a bad job.

We need all of the above, and high enough prices to support emerging energy production/efficiency technology diversification even beyond that. it would all help reduce dependence, reduce national perperson energy costs in the longrun, boost savings/investment and help pay down nat'l debt, cause if we don't we'll go belly up and won't be able to buy imported anything anyway, (see Argentina).

FWIW, my first job out of highschool before starting college was a specialized jobs program for highschoolers and new college-bound graduates with certain career interests-I grass-seeded backcountry roadcuts, picked up trash, fixed erosion problems with pick and shovel, etc. etc. with a bunch of other highschoolers. Hot, dirty, sweaty, manual. Great job!

Re: Birchtree's account talk

The Dow Jones Transportation Index just went through its' 200 day sma at 3230. Could the rally today be defined as part of a massive reversal in play. Q2 GDP tomorrow may continue to rock this boat forward. If we can hold 200 points I'll be doing further buying today. The more you own the more you make especially in a bull market.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

I look at a lot of TA but usually use it only when it works in my favor, otherwise I'm primarily a fundamentalist. If panic buying starts occuring because of all the available liquidity sitting in retail and institutional money market funds, a very nice summer rally may still be in the cards. If the market were to continue to rally, greed may start winning out over fear of a loss possibly replaced by the fear of missing out. Most investors were absolutely crushed last year and that fear remains. But they'll be back at higher levels. Big bull markets always find a way to keep one frightened and out - that's the classic strategy.
