Birchtree's Account Talk

Re: Birchtree's account talk

The selling pressure perpetrated by the hedge funds bulldozed many value and fundamental invesators into throwing in the towel - not me. The hedge funds involuntary selling situation has morphed into panic selling for ordinary investors - not me. This is why many stocks have been reduced to extraordinarily low prices. No question it takes a lot of guts and intestinal fortitude to commit capital to stocks in a panicky environment. By the time fundamental circumstances are actually good, the best of cyclical market moves may indeed be behind investors - a lot can happen in the next three days. Financial markets do not require perfect news to change tone and emotional feel, they simply require a less bad situation. Don't hold back Mr. Bernanke.

Its likely a 0.50% with little attention paid. But 0.75% could give us reason to sing ! ;) Don't hold back Indeed ! ;)

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Ten more buys this morning for posterity - that's a total of 188 purchases on this bottom. If we run today I plan to do another ten. It's amazing what a 900 point rally can do for a portfolio - and I still don't plan to do any selling until spring if then.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

I wish I had the cash to be buying in during this period. My bank account is needed for the purchase of a car - I don't like purchasing through loans. cash only.

I was thrilled for you yesteday Birch. That may have been a record gain. Everytime something like that happens I always think of you.

I know this dog that every time he comes around he likes to smell my crotch - is there a potential cure to discourage this type of behavior.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Pop his nose with a rubber band each time it happens, when he is in the action its self. After a couple of those he WILL quit!! Oh, be very careful of your aim!

Stop hiding the Hot Dog there and they'll move on to a new food source.

Seriously, even a flick on the nose with your finger will eventually persuade
Rover from continuing such behavior. Give a voice command of "No" each
time you do it. Should he forget the flick is coming, the "No" will be a good
reminder. It might evn help with other behavior as well. ;)

Send him out to fetch the paper so he can read things like:

Um, doesn't Warren Buffet subscribe to this method?

You chose your method, you stand by it, you'll reap the rewards you are looking for.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

I think the best policy would be to encourage this dog to go play in traffic. Get it now?

Frixxxx,

You got it. Those were excellent articles. I didn't become a buy and holder over night - it took many years of mistakes and training to finally get it right.

Thanks Birch - I got a good laugh out of this one.

Dogs will do that using their nose to investigate. They can tell both your gender and your age. The dog is probably in shock because you seem a lot younger (then his nose is telling) and so he wants to make sure - because no matter what you can't fool his nose.

My wife (and girls in general) are way more bothered by that behavior than me. Often they'll push their nose up from behind. :embarrest:

There are tons of deals for 0% if you have the credit rating. That's free money.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

If anyone reads the C fund thread you will know what I'm talking about. Time to jump in.

This situation does remind me of the Bill Clinton days. Everytime he sat at his desk he would feel a cold nose in his crotch - but he never knew if it was Buddy or Monica.

Watch the NYSE lead us to the promised land today.

It's very tempting. I even considered getting a low financing rate (like 0%), then loaning out the same amount through prosper.com to make my monthly payments but with money left over. The only problem is that the 0% financing has been on vehicles that cost more than I'm willing to spend.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Just nailed in my last ten purchases ahead of the Fed. I see where the Libor rates are down 12 days in a row. I think the wife keeps adding more stocks to my list. I'm going to be buying all week no matter what the market brings to me. I've now made 198 individual stock buys around this bottom.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Birch - Whats the least number of shares of any stock you've bought and whats the most number you've bought?

I don't care to know which stocks in particular but if you want to share I'll read what you post.

5? 10? 50? 100? 500? More?

Inquiring minds want to know or I'm just being nosey...one of the two.
