Birchtree's Account Talk

Re: Birchtree's account talk

I'm sitting here contemplating how fortunate I am .

Last night during supper my daughter told us about the circumstances of relatives of one of her closest mentor and friend.

When I sat in the recliner eating my cereal this morning and looked around the room - it was heart wrenching. I can tell you the story about every piece of furniture, every lamp, the wall paper and everything else. It didn't come overnight - but piece by piece and living relatively simply over many years. The beginning was more marked with struggles - striving to get ahead and not be paycheck to paycheck. But now I have it all and it's beautiful; way beyond what I would have thought possible in my youth.

We are fortunate Birch - so incredibly fortunate to be who we are and have what we do.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Capital that is sitting on the sidelines is now at record highs (such an amount of capital was virtually non-existent back in February 2003, let alone July 1982 or Ocdtober 1990 ) not just in sovereign wealth funds, but in private equity funds and hedge funds as well. The 1990 peak in capital preceded a great rally which ended in the summer of 1998. Take a look at the graph that fabijo has posted on his thread - get ready for 1995 all over again.

http://www.marketthoughts.com/z20080710.html

As of Wednesday at the close, the ratio between money market fund assets and the market cap of the S&P 500 spiked to 30.25% - an astronomically high level that again broke all previous record highs – including the month-end March 2008, February 2003, and the July 1982 highs. The October 1990 high – the last time the U.S. stock market gave us a once-in-a-decade buying opportunity – has now been completely blown out of the water. Unless the S&P 500 rises by dramatically over the next several weeks, this record will most likely hold. More importantly, subscribers should note that the amount of global investable capital that is sitting on the sidelines is also now at record highs (such an amount of capital was virtually non-existent back in February 2003, let alone July 1982 or October 1990) – not just in sovereign wealth funds, but in private equity funds and hedge funds as well. While this indicator is usually not a great short-term timing indicator, it is to be noted that this reading is now extremely high on a historical basis and should be supportive for stock prices not only for over the next few years, but over the next few months as well. My sense is that we have already seen the bottom – which means that we will continue to remain 100% long in our DJIA Timing System in the immediate future.

Another example of your vast market knowledge. Amazing how you remembered exactly where the parentheses went, even though you are just writing freehand. What a fraud!

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Birch,
You're loved and admired by many - so hold to that and take everything else with "a grain of salt".

My life is centered on "Ella" - the most perfert companion I've ever known. No one is more thrilled to see me every morning when I come down to let her out of her crate; no one displays more enthusiaum when I get home, or acts more excited to take walks with me. She's also totally wired like a woman and wonderful.

Women are like huge RADARS - and I'd imagine you have to know this. They sense things and pick up things way beyond our words or verbalizations - and for them nothing we say or do means anything if it doesn't match what their RADAR tells them. I'm telling you as a man (totally flawed with Male wiring) - you simply CAN NOT win an argument with a woman. If you "win" then they shut down - and you feel even worse for the distance and seperation - so you will feel like a LOSER. If they win (which of course they will) then you simply note their advantage and move on. They are like Tape Recorders always monitoring their surroundings: When you make a mistake they can quote it to the second for years on end. We are no match to them and I wouldn't have them any other way.

I hope "Ella" is not a human you keep in a crate:

Austrian cellar case man admits abduction and incest

A 73-year-old Austrian today confessed to imprisoning, beating and sexually abusing his daughter in a windowless cellar for 24 years, during which time he fathered her seven children.

Josef Fritzl admitted forcing his daughter Elisabeth into the basement of the family's home in Amstetten, north-west Austria, on August 24 1984, when she was 18.

Franz Pölzer, the head of the criminal investigations unit in the province of Lower Austria, said Fritzl had admitted abduction, incest and abuse.

Holding up a picture of the 73-year-old, he told a press conference: "This man led a double life for 24 years. He deceived everybody. He deceived his wife and the legal system."

After initially denying the crimes, Fritzl later admitted locking up his daughter, now aged 42, beating and sexually abusing her and fathering her children, Pölzer said.

Well I'm totally NEUTRAL and staying out of this.

But if I were to keep score - this would certainly give you at least another 100 points over what you already have.

It's not good news for those in BONDS - or the F FUND.

As the PRICE goes UP - the YEILD goes DOWN
As the PRICE goes DOWN - the YEILD goes UP

That's an excellent TSP question.

Doing my more casual reading I stumbled on the Answer:

This is more than likely the basis for such a huge move and it makes a lot of since.

As to the question of this link: Our investments are guranteed and have always been safe.

Well that's it for me - have a great weekend everyone.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

I think it may be time for me to have a few words. The reason I joined this message board was for educational purposes and the fact I considered myself a solitary investor. I liked the opportunity to have many heads providing information - that made my work a little easier. But at the same time there is hardly a moment to rest when one is trying to figure out what is truly happening in the investment arena. I find myself continuously accessing all kinds of information as a learning tool - and when I get the opportunity to post all I'm really doing is regurgitating some of this same information to try and help me form my opinions and to remember some of the details - it's basically rote learning. The more I study the MCOs and McClellan summations the more comfortable I become in making my decisions. So if I help a member with my postings that is only a secondary consideration - I'm primarily helping myself. I'm not around for fame and glory - there is none. I get enough recognition from my client base of around 90 people - they have stuck with me through this entire correction knowing that they are blessed with an opportunity to accumulate assets at mighty low prices and only two have clucked out. Digger thinks I'm a fraud because I use a sentence that I picked up some place else that usually only involves facts that I want to remember - again rote learning. If there are members that feel the same way she does then the solution for you is simple - use the ignore button. I think ayla still has me on hers. So until I'm admonished by our Administrator I'll try and follow the rules but there will be some unintentional mistakes - it's impossible to be accurate all the time. Now I remember when Richard Greer was into gerbiling and he handled that episode with grace so I guess I can handle my own imitation of that entertainment with the Digger form of googleing - what else is there to say. She loves playing around in my butt. I spent a goodly amount of time out side today because the weather is starting to change and I'm feeling opportunistic toward the markets and my mood is not to be vituperative or angry. We'll see what I can dig up over the weekend - trying to remain bullish. Snort.
