I just got the good news regarding AAPL and their 7 for 1 stock split. I've been patiently waiting for some kind of catalyst to spark the animal spirits in this market. Perhaps tomorrow we'll see a big gap up on the open - let it be so. AAPL may be just the beginning of many more stock splits to allow the moms and pops that have totally missed the last five years of the new mega trend secular bull market to buy in at cheaper prices. Don't be surprised if we explode upward from here into unimaginable uncharted territory levels. Rotation is the life blood of a strong market.
 
I truly believe once this AAPL news begins to sink in as a catalyst, we are going to be off to the races. I think this was a total surprise to most people. Now some will start claiming blow off top - not me. We've got many more miles to travel before the trip is finished.
 
The lead article from my WSJ this morning: "Mom and Pop step up their trading. Discount brokers report large jumps in volume in first quarter; very robust retail engagement. Small investors are putting a little high frequency into therir own trading." So bring on the herd with the wind at my back. I've been waiting for their return to boost me into better profits. Snort.

the aapl 7 for 1 split, what does that mean in laymans terms? does that mean for example a $7 stock will now be $1 stock? thanks to you and the MB.

Yes, for every one share you hold you'll now have seven more - at lower prices of course. But that means you'll be able to make eight dollars per point post split. I'm expecting many more other stock splits this year - it's a lot like playing with the house money once you reach that point.
 
I'd prefer the market rocket up 1000 points - but if that is not to be the case, then a sideways market is also kosher. I happen to have 159 dividends due through May and June - so lower pricing is acceptable. "The bull market that began in March 2009 entered its sixth year during the first quarter, helping to lure back investors who had sworn off stocks and enticing newcomers seeking profits."
 
Bill Miller says:" The conditions for a bad market just don't exist. You can throw a dart at the market and about anything you hit is gonna go up the next six months." Don't you know there is no sign whatsoever that this bull market is any where near being over. We experienced a mild bear market in October 2011 and I start my bullish cyclical count from that point. A falling dollar is highly correlated with rising commodity prices. Based on past experience, a bottom in the euro should be viewed as a bullish catalyst on commodity prices. When will escape velocity be reached - secular bulls don't end until they bloom into a popular speculative mania that pulls and pushes normal everyday non-investors heading into a climax and that turn of events can last for a very long time. I've been in front of that train before and you just have to keep one step ahead.
 
Well it's time to take on a few nibbles: CBI, HP, MYE, PRTA, RRTS. Nothing dramatic, just exercising some opportunity.
 
It was the week that wasn't. Here is how my oceanic account performed: +$24K, +$45K, -$9K, +$9K, -$85K for a total give back of -$16K. I have three days of trading remaining to find +$40K somewhere so I end the month of April unchanged. Some days it just doesn't pay to play although I did add to my inventory.
 
It would appear that the I fund evened up its' fair value from three days ago - just proves there is karma.
 
I just received another four dividend increase announcements - AVY, CE, RF, SSD - that makes 68 so far ytd. There is ample possibility that I may exceed the 158 total for 2013. I'm thinking these dividend payouts can conceivably last generations - that'll be my legacy to the grandchildren. I'm on autopilot and usually am buying something every day - keeps my life from being boring. It's such a pleasure to review my monthly statements and track these payments back for years and see where I've been buying and at what prices. Happy wife - happy life. Now I need to invest her defined contribution plan to add to the income stream - her money will be in an IRA. Trading inside an IRA has no tax consequence - so I need to be gentle and further encourage her to throw in the towel. But lately she's been busy showing off her new face - so I will wait. We got years to run yet my hoofhearted friends.
 
Another day or two of S fund drubbing and I might move into the top 100 zone - I've got 7 dividends due for reinvesting on Monday so please bring those golden prices.
 
There was great pricing yesterday in small caps - another day of weakness would be appreciated. Sorry about that S funders. I'm now at #134 on the tracker and ready to over take amoeba. I was sorry to hear that BAC has temporarily suspended their dividend increase but I'll make it up some place else. I talked to a mortgage banker yesterday about a jumbo mortgage - I think she got lost. Now that home buying seems to be slowing, bankers will stretch for qualified applicants. Fixed income people don't seem to have a clue about risk assets - this banker is going to get some education.
 
I really, really hate to admit this but because there are so many great wall flowers to purchase, that I'm like a deer in the headlights - frozen in time for the moment. It's an emotional thing I guess - I just hope it doesn't last. But afterall I'm just human with my own foibles - perhaps I'm trying to control my greed factor. But you cannot ignore this bull market - many have missed the last six years and are now crowding the doorway to get in - could that be my fear. I mean I've been waiting for this buying binge for several years - and now that it is on the horizon I turn chicken - nah that's not me. Perhaps I'm just catching my breath.
 
Baby just let'em burn - many energy stocks on fire today. Once the money starts on the rails there is no stopping it. Just wish I knew why I'm so nervous. It will come to me in my sleep I'm sure.
 
It would appear that my earlier paranoia has passed so I bought some: GT, GDXJ, TRW. And it actually felt good - I must be addicted to equities. Snort.
