Birchtree's Account Talk

I've decided to keep track of my dividend increases for 2012 - so far there have been four announcements: LNT, OKE, APU, WMB. With dividend reinvestment compounding four times a year any extra increases adds to my revenue stream. I would anticipate at least as a minimum 200 dividend increases for this year.

With the VIX now at 18.84 we could see a very interesting if not exciting last hour - money is getting ready to flow into risk.

Am I too diversified - today with a 96 point Dow gain I didn't make any money in the oceanic - that happens. Here is what happened the last four trading days: -$11K, +$76K, +$28K, -$1K for a sweet gain of +$92K. For the first three weeks I'm up +$261K. Perhaps next week I'll tag the +$100K - which is my weekly goal. We now have three weekly wins to start the year. When January as a month is up then the whole year ends up 95% of the time within this stage of the presidential cycle.

When all the experts and forecasts agree - something else is going to happen. Fear is the greatest buy signal everseen in the stock markets.

"The real money these days are going straight under the mattress. In the first 11 months of 2011, investors poured a stunning $889 billion into checking and savings accounts. This amount is more than eight times the $109 billion that flowed into stocks and bond mutual funds and exchange traded funds." This is wondeful news to a renegade contrarian.

You know, if you're making that much in 3 weeks, may I suggest moving all your money to high dividend yielding stocks and living off them until, well, the end of time if you can make it that long?

Does anyone know the date the Roth TSP will be effective, I thought they said early 2012. I called the TSP help line and they seem to have no clue.

Or, since Judy is fast to the draw...

Birchtree,

I sold my BAC at $7/share (paid $5) and now wish I hadn't. Do you think it is worth getting back in at $7? Hmmmm, maybe I just answered my own question, since I wish I would not have sold it.

My immediate desire is to clear $140K in the next seven trading sessions to give my oceanic a gain of $400K for January. I read where the first three weeks this year have been the strongest in the last 15 years. Does that mean anything - perhaps. Will the VIX drop below the 18 level this week - perhaps. Snort.

Gosh, will the I fund break my hoofheart today with a negative FV? It could be a day of tracker transitions.
