Birchtree's Account Talk

I'm allowing some buffer to build so I can stay clear of the guillotine if the market decides to back up. I'll be spending money again soon enough - but for the next week or so my dividends will do the lifting. I've already made 45 individual purchases in November and 353 in October. 182 purchases in September and 325 in August while I was probbing the bottoms. So I will rest awhile until my greed factor kicks in again - but I'm by no means done.

You're always an inspiration to me Daddy Big Bucks!

Take another little piece of my hoofheart why don'tcha, babe. I just checked my oceanic portfolio and there ain't a green shoot anywhere. I can handle this nonsense today but it's tomorrow that may have me on the run again. I'm off -$119K so far and that is tolerable. Three dividends will post today - so the silver lining is there. Bring on the negative 300 point tail - that would look classic.

Hang in there, brother. Tomorrow may tell if we need to bail. Another day like today might tip the scales for me to head for safety. Until then, I'm riding the rough surf with you.

Good luck!

Breaking news for you....Buffet says he is reporting today that he has increased his (presumably Berkshire) shares in IBM to a total of $10.7 billion. 3rd quarter purchases reached the threshold to require his reporting. His ownership is up to 5%. Stock is jumping on the news.

I had 3832 views over the weekend probably from lurkers wanting to know how my oceanic account behaved last week. So here are the results: +$1K, +$47K, -$193K, +$33K, +$92K for a total devaluation of -$20K. Not bad for all that volatility. I'm waiting for a sustained break of the 200-day (1273) that would increase the odds of stocks going on to make significant higher highs - yea.

Mindylou says buy some JAG while you still can. We are loaded up on it already - so this is not a pump and dump.

Thankyou Warrenlm - now I'll wait on the white knight to surface. There is no more fun than a good bidding war.

do you have a position in actual oil prices? that seems to be the best way to profit, though i'm sure the oil companies are benefiting short and long term

A -190 point drop left me with only a scratch thanks to my oil industry holdings today - could I be that lucky tomorrow?

Sorry my friend I have no confidence in Charlie - I do however appreciate the read and thankyou for the link. I really won't do any more worrying until we get back to over 90% stocks above their 200 day MA and a VIX at the 15 level. That'll be the time to run like the wind.
