Birchtree's Account Talk

As a personal preference I'm staying light on the small caps in my TSP account (tugboat) - I'm fully loaded with small caps in my oceanic account. I'll be moving more money in the next few weeks from the I fund back to the C fund and don't plan to increase my S fund position beyond 20%.

The private economy will be ready to assume the responsibility for economic growth forward and that will move the market forward. It's best to be in and stay in because you will not be able to trade in and out successfully during a wave 3. The R2K just wiped out all its' losses from 2008 and the SPX and Dow are only percentage points away from doing the same. A/D line breadth is confirming the price highs of the current bull market - be in to win. I'll be chasing Ferdinand tomorrow buying more wall flowers. Honestly, the smart younger generation will not have enough in assets to retire unless they invest in stocks. In the wake of the market meltdown of 2008, investors under the age 35 are shunning stocks in stunning numbers. That's a shame because they will pay a price.

I believe we are in the beginnings of a major 3rd wave and now that resistance has blown away with a breakout there will be no stopping the inverse head and shoulders pattern. Money stagnating on the sidelines is feeling more anxious pain everyday we move up because they are missing the train and will have to pay up to get a position. I like that. The Fed says no rate increases which means that fixed income is paying didley. I had an announcement this morning indicating four dividend increases - and in order to get dividends the millennials must buy equity assets. More triple-digit days are in the offering.

I'm not educated on the wave stuff yet, but this bull has treated me well. When the S&P dropped below 750 and I had been 20% in all five funds for years from good advice for long term investors with a blind eye, I took my 20G and 20F and went to stock funds. Making that move a couple weeks before the uptrend and then increasing my contributions for a few months when prices were so low has really paid off for me.

Out here on the back roads of Vermont, I don't think I have my finger on the pulse of "These United States". However, I would guestimate that there are lots of folks with $ looking to get back into equity markets.

Problem here in Vermont, though, is there are so many folks expecting the Govmnt to take care of them, thus pushing up tax rates. As tax takers begin to exceed tax payers; well, you get deficits.

Hmmm.

You are living proof that doing the right strategy works - it requires discipline and courage. I suspect you are a Green Mountain patriot. Stay with your plan because this bull is going to make you comfortable - I've been smelling the sweet superlative bull manure all day.

i'm 23 trying to learn from you pros :D preach more and someone will listen including me.

one question why flower? is this a short-term investment or long-term?

A wall flower is my term for a stock that is rather dull and often overlooked - I prefer to buy them before they turn into roses when they are fairly valued. When a wall flower becomes a richly valued rose is when I begin to contemplate selling - it's kinda like harvesting from the garden. I'll be buying today.

And a one and a two and three:

Little wall flower on the shelf
Standing by herself
Never had the nerve to take a chance
So let the little girl dance

Let the little girl dance
Let the little girl dance
She never danced before
So let her on the floor

Let the little girl dance
Let the little girl dance
She wants to give it a try
So let the little girl by

She's been a little wallflower on the shelf
Standing by herself
Now she's got the nerve to take a chance
So let the little girl dance

Let the little girl through
She wants to dance by you
Buddy can't you see
She wants to dance with me

She's been a little wallflower on the shelf
Standing by herself
Now she's got the nerve to take a chance
So let the little girl dance

Let the little girl through
She wants to dance by you
Buddy can't you see
She wants to dance with me

Never had the nerve to take a chance
Let the little girl dance

Doesn't take much to get everyone going down memory lane on this message board. Must have something to do with age. ;)

So Birch, when do you plan to ditch more of your "I" shares? The longer you hold them, the more I want to jump back in....which may not be a good idea. You think the "I" can go any higher at present?
