Birchtree's Account Talk

"On the up days the advance-decline line is strong, and on the down days the advance-decline line is not very bad at all. The majority of stocks are hanging strong.

There is one major event that really bothers me on a daily basis. The 10-year bond is showing a rapid decline to below 3%. People are so unhappy with the stock market overall....everyone seems to hate the market. The trend these days says this bond market will get hammered some day."

Because we've been compressed with the moving averages the last 4 weeks don't be surprised if we get a slingshot up move later today.

Friends, can anyone out there see the markets at new all-time highs in the near future. Be ready to participate because if we are headed into a major third Elliott wave structure off the 2009 bottoms we're going much higher. My Dow target for close end of December remains at 17,000 and SPX at 1700. As a member of the hoofhearted I will DCA myself all the way up. If we take out Dow 10,700 today I'll be buying for the oceanic account.

Birch. Am I outta your mind? 17,000? December? First of all the Dow is down today. Second of all, I just flew back from Italy and the plane had to take into account the ocean beneath it. So we already did the oceanic account thing.:D Thirdly. I will personally KYA if the DOW gets to 17,000. I am, by the way, getting back into it, all be it slowly, so, yeah, I'd like to see it go way up.

JimmyJoe,

If we hit my Dow 17,000 target you would be more than happily privileged to KMA - only kidding though. Check this out. I just looked at my KRO (Kronos Worldwide) position and it's up 100.71% year to date - sure can't make that in the bond market. It's tempting to not look this horse in the mouth but because of their earnings rebound this stock could have much more growth in price. So I'll do my best strategy discipline and sit tight.

BHO is such an egg plant. You can get a business tax incentive if you manufacture wind mills. If I put a wind mill on the back of my car would that work? He thinks we can run the country on wind mills.

You've been out of school too long...:D
this took me less than 5 minutes to find...
-but you keep on buying into those fossil fuel companies
I'm sure you'll do just fine.

Renewable energy in Iceland

The Nesjavellir Geothermal Power Plant

About 81 per cent of total primary energy supply in Iceland is derived from domestically produced renewable energy sources. In 2007, geothermal energy provided about 66 per cent of primary energy, the share of hydro power was 15 per cent, and fossil fuels (mainly oil) 19 per cent. The main use of geothermal energy is for space heating with the heat being distributed to buildings through extensive district-heating systems. About 85% of all houses in Iceland are heated with geothermal energy.

Renewable energy provides 100 per cent of electricity production, with about 70 percent coming from hydropower and 30 percent from geothermal power. Most of the hydropower plants are owned by Landsvirkjun (the National Power Company) which is the main supplier of electricity in Iceland.

The nation is ranked 53rd in the list of countries by carbon dioxide emissions per capita (2003), emitting 62% less than the United States per capita despite using more primary energy per capita.

Huge Wind Farm To Be Built Off Coast of Wales

The Welsh coast is known for its wind, which makes a wind farm a logical idea. Now it is coming to fruition with the announcement of a huge wind farm to be built off the coast of Wales.

Wales has a beautiful coastline, but it isn’t exactly tropical. The wind used to be just a characteristic of the area, but now it is being given a new look. In fact, the sheer energy the wind provides is going to be harnessed. The wind farm will be known as the Gwynt y Môr project. The name may be a mouthful, but the results will be massive.

RWE AG and Siemens are teaming up on the project. It will be located about 18 kilometers off the coast and be one of the largest wind farms in the world. At its peak, the project will produce over 576 megawatts of electricity. That is enough electricity to power over 400,000 homes a day. That is a sizeable amount of clean energy.

The Gwynt y Mor project is part of an overall plan by the British government to tap into clean, free energy. The UK once had sizeable oil reserves offshore in the North Sea, but all of those major fields are in decline. This has spurred the government to investigate and invest in clean energy. Given the windy shorelines that naturally occur on the island, the use of wind power platforms simply makes sense and the UK is building farms right and left.

You know I was just thinking-
With no shortage of hot air blowing around where you live, I'll bet that area is ripe for some sustainable energy development! ;)

No windmills, but you can buy a flex fuel vehicle (Ethanol and corn incentives) or a hybrid (lithum battery and ultracapacitor incentives). Oh, yes, there also are those cars with solar cells to run your air conditioning. If you have a windmill, just plug your car into the electricity from it. See, I got it to work. :cheesy:

Geothermal - I guess we could plug some stuff into Yellowstone park, but we should be thankful we our geothermal isn't as close to the surface Iceland's. In ancient times, they baked bread by digging a hole in the ground and sticking the bread in there.

Today looks to be painful - but even more painful for the S funders. Well it does look like we are turning around some. The 71,000 private sector jobs may be helping. I may be buying more BP today now that it is in the $41 range.

Buy early and buy often so says my investment adviser: bought BP at $41.06, AA, MEE. Boy it would be nice to see a sling shot move today to over at least 10,700. Snort. Any price for BP above my initial purchase of $45.96 is pure gravey. My low price point was $27.86. Can't make money like this in our current bond markets.

He who laughs LAST - laughs Best !! :D:D

Birch, the day to day makes absolutely no difference.

Consider the LIFE of the Markets themselves. We have gone through a 'substantial' and looooooong overdue 'Correction'

call it whatever the hell you want -- bear, recession, depression ...whatever

We hit Bottom --- much to my (and many other's) ultra surprize. At the time we HIT BOTTOM ... we should have Sunnnkkkkk much lower ...

but we didn;t  and I simply have to live with that

Now my 'young little snapper' we are at 'Consolidation Mode'

The foundation is building and there is really nothing outside of that. NOW it's possible that the 'toy dolls' are part of the picture....

NOT because they are 'in control' -- but because the Companies use them to THEIR Advantage ... and so I can't rule out that the platform may linger on another month....

WHY?? ...because the COMPANIES (all stand and rise) want the population to think it's the 'toy dolls' ... beause NOTHING would 'foster' more 'Hope for the Future' .... 'more Optimism' ...and more willingness to Invest your little bottom off ....and all the more ..

LIVE to SPEND like there is NO TOMORROW....

S Fund is in the lead for a 'good reason' son and you can do as you wish and you know I love you NO MATTER what.

But when the Mighty of Rocket of WEALTH breaks through the sky and keeps going far beyond our Solar System -- then I will shift everything to either S Fund or to I Fund.

Because 'This Opportunity' will only happen once. As I have told you over and over throughout the years .... step back and look at the overall picture and know what is happening .... then invest your money accordingly.

This is why the RICH do get RICHER -- it's the way of LIFE.

Snort? More like the sound of flushing if you ask me. Still, might be a good entry point especially if we can hit around 1102 before rebounding at the end of the day. S&P 1102 is a very cuddly pivot point for me personally. We stay above it...higher we go. Market has been grinding higher albeit with more volatility as of late. Since I'm in...I'll stay with the grinder higher camp and on low volume. :D

Well I certainly don't want to see 1102 but I think we are safe for the time being from drastic plunges. Then again, could be why I'm near the bottom on the tracker:laugh:

Tsunami,

Here are my BP positions: Using dollar cost averaging. $45.96, 36.99, 31.66, 29.91, 29.73, 27.86, 33.14, 36.02, 37.01, 38.01, 39.48, 40.16, 41.06. If I have the available cash I'll continue to buy up to $55 by the end of October. I think you'll end up toast on your put options at $34 - but at least you walk the talk.

"The historical record - including the events of the bear market - continues to show that overtime, combining foreign and US stocks reduces a portfolio's risk while boosting its potential return."

AMEN !!!! Brother :D

Folks chizzel that in concrete and carve it on bronze sheets 8' x 8'.

Say this every night before you go to bed and every morning when you wake up. Always include this ~~ even as a quick mental recital ~~ every time you get in the car and every time you walk in your workplace.

Try to let this be 'deeply' and 'richly' a part of your makeup -- so that it flows naturally as you sit down to eat a meal, turn on the TV, or engage with your pet. In many ways and in every way 'Let this flow from you'.

And if you do this -- your stomach will no longer be in knots and you will not 'be anxious' about anything.....

...Yes my friends ........for all forms of FEAR ....will disappear as you grow RICHER.

Then 'in peace and confidence' -- in 'security and excess' you will see how you are 'different' from the others.

Have a great weekend everyone ----

and for those with 'firearms' -- get an 'egg plant' and use it for target practice. :cheesy:

If I have the available cash....

When in 'need' you know I'm here ;)

Here's my lastest idea for you to get the 'easiest money' available.

I will PAY for your Licence Plate and give you $100 dollars ...if..

1.LEZ B AN
2.GAY MAN
3.BI SEX ER

You promise I can have them 'custom designed' in this order; and drive it like that for a full year.:cool::cool:

Man, I'm always coming up with ideas to give you money -- but nothing's for FREE -- Birch -- and most of my ideas require no 'work'.
