Birchtree's Account Talk

Re: Birchtree's account talk

I'm holding AIG and recently bought more, also holding C and will eventually buy more. Not holding any FAS - but I seem to own everything else. Since 6/26 I've made 373 individual purchases - simply trying to buy myself into happiness. If we can perk up a little more this afternoon....I can't stanz it no more, I'm going in to rescue a few more lonely wall flowers - cover me Rambo.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Steady,

Did you notice the Mindylou imprint?

No idea what you're talking about...???

Scanned over the previous posts looking for a picture...

then checked to see if you added an album or something.???

Speaking of Mindylou - it's that incredibly 'precious picture' of our friend (I sent a few posts to) that all the more makes her impossible to forget. I just love that picture. :toung::)

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Steady,

The imprint was purrfect. I think we got another step up on the way. If I don't buy now the cost for the same amount of shares goes up - hesitation can bewcome expensive. Be in to win.

Squeezy-peezy... who didn't get the memo from Paulson that it was anti-american to short?!

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Got that second step up and made it back with a few lovely wall flowers: FPO, BTU, RDC, BGG, IVZ, FOE. Next week should be a continuation of the fear factor - get me in at any price. So many more to go to complete my humanitarian mission. I'm reminded that on Monday I got devalued by $60K - geez I might get that all back today which puts me up nicely on the week. I'm so darn hoofhearted - let it rip.

BT

speaking for 1 of the nine ( catch me if u can). I'm there by default when it all dropped I got caught up thinking things would turn around quickly and 2 years later here I still sit. I'm by no means an expert just here trying to learn from all of you, and i appreciate you all!!!! thanks for everything no harm intended.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

It's all in good fun and I will catch you. Glad to see you've done well being a buy and holder in the I fund. But the times they are a changin, so be cognizant of the dollar placing a bottom. Friends do let friends buy and hold.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Even after a day like today the VIX still refuses to break - I guess that's good for me. Everyone is so nervous, full of fear, afraid of the next slap. Eventually they will convert to bullishness and then I'll get worried - until then I'm remaining hoofhearted.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

if the vix stays above 20 we'll still see these daily moves greater than 1% as a common occurance... man, would it be nice to have a few more IFTs per month.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

You are correct - it's going to get woolly from here. Hang on tight if you're in for the ride of a lifetime. I'm so glad I took my hits last year and held my discipline. I plan on making $1M before 30 weeks from the March lows is finished. I hope I'm not overly confident but courage has held me in good stead.

Especially after yesterdays drop. 20 on the VIX is a good figure to stick to but I bet that when the fall comes it will come fast. I hope you are right with the Santa Claus rally bringing it on...that gives us 12+ more weeks like this!

Re: Birchtree's account talk

The 1982 rally was still faster and went further than any previous rally that occurred post 1945. I rode that puppy and made $300K in ten months - I'm way over that at this point only because I have more money working for me, but I think this current rally may exceed the 1982 run - and if it does....well I don't dare imagine my gains in public. But once you become a bull rider you can't have fear only courage.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

"We are climbing a wall of worry because many economists (and hedge fund managers) do not believe in the recovery and still have 50 per cent cash, awaiting a correction, which may never come. Earnings, and GDP, figures will slowly improve and equity markets will strengthen well into spring of 2010."

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Next week could be my second week ever of making $100K. The persistence of the bulls is very reminiscent of 1995 or 2003, when sentiment got stuck in the bullish extreme while prices continued higher. This is the kind of price action that emboldens the bulls and demoralizes the bears and can be self-fulfilling leading to higher prices. I'm reminded by Tom that the market will tend to move in ways that confound the consensus. The market didn't pause much on the way down, so why should one expect it to pause on the way up. 1300 in two months would fill the technical principle of symmetry - do you know anybody else talking this much bullish nonsense other than Birchtree? The market recovery may mirror the fall - that's why I buy early and often. The avalanche of cash is starting to go to work. Ray called this one for sure at http://mmacycles and another week to go.

Re: Birchtree's account talk

"On July 29, 2009, the slope of the S&P 500's 200 day moving average turned positive, a rare event which can signal the end of a bear market and the beginning of a new bull market. We may experience a shake out correction in the fall of 2009, where the market shakes out investors just prior to a big move. From a historical standpoint, steep economic downturns are usually followed by better than expected recoveries."

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Gov't expected to increase the projected deficit by 2t on Tuesday...could be the news that will cause a drop and cause the lemmings to stampede!

Re: Birchtree's account talk

Go Fund I go! Up is a good direction. The dollar appears to be heading for a 52 week low and with trillions being printed it can only keep going down.

This morning the "Cooler" had a blueberry muffin with breakfast and a piece of blueberry pie after a wonderful dinner of the daily catch. The "Cooler" is in Gulfport on a mission of subterfuge and subversion. Avoid all eye contact with strangers.
