On a serious note, just stay 90% below the FDIC insurance limits. The 90% will protect your money and any earnings.
If the private sector help for AIG is dead, and the Fed said yesterday there was no way to raise 75 billion in time, which is now closer to 100 billion, how come everybody still has hope? Let AIG go into chapter 7 and then they (AIG/Court) will have time to sell off all their units that could raise capital. Stop spending my tax dollar to save these idiots.
My 2 cents.

This is getting silly. Did you see the former CEO this morning saying how the Feds needs to help or else? What he didn't say was how much he is down on his AIG stock.
Didn't you know, its part of American History that needs preservation at
all costs. I laughed at the old fart and saw right through him. Being so
heavily invested in AIG and the thoughts of losing something that he felt
was his "legacy",,,, put him on TV. Not to mention that AIG probably was
begging him to do so.
I can't understand why everyone is so negative - everything will be fine.

Don't think for a second, even if its not reasonable, that the thoughts of
Bank Failures doesn't put the fear of God in many. Corporations lie for
survival and self interest. Governments Lie, in the name of National
Security and the best interest of the United States. Nobody is going to
tell us the full truth, simply because its the right thing to do. I'm sure
some invision brokers thrusting themselves out of their office windows.
Absolutely no one involved in the Financial Crisis we're facing here in
America have given us reason to think otherwise. Confidence is Low.
With that said, if this didn't hold true, you wouldn't have such a great
buying opportunity that currently exists. I'm sure you'll take full advantage
of it and reap the benefits that fear and blood in the streets have offered
Whoa Squalebear - you are really fired up.
Sorry Jeff - not trying to steel your thread.
As a BULL who enjoys smelling the flowers... and kind of dancing in the fresh air... maybe things AREN'T nearly as bad as they sound and before you know it... we'll be soaring to the top.
The days of "Leave it to Beaver" can't be very far away. This will all blow over before ya know it.
Well good night everyone, sleep tight and don't let the bedbugs bite.:cheesy:
Seeing AIG around $2 after hours.
