Apple

Interesting video. My take is if you are looking to upgrade to a new iPhone and you want the iPhone12, unless you plan to keep it for 5 years to allow the 5G network to catch up to the phone why not upgrade to an iPhone 11 and save some money.

I tend to agree. Professionals might get the Pro Max for the camera and LIDAR, but outside of that I can't justify spending $1000 on a phone just to have 5G available a few years ahead of time. I have an iPhone 7 that is a struggle to keep charged on a daily basis. I'm looking at the 12 mini at the very most and that's only because my 7 is truly on its last leg. I'm not as excited about upgrading as I have been in the past.

Edit: $100 difference between the 11 and 12 mini gets you the access to eventual 5G network, the upgraded A14 chip over the A13, better camera, and MagSafe capability. So that is worth the $100 to me. The question for me is more, do I want to spring for the 12 mini at $700, or just get the SE at $400 which has most of what the 11 has for $200 less.

The wife and I both have the 6plus and the batteries have been replaced once already. A freebee from Apple. I'm thinking of going to the 11. The way we use our phones now I don't think 5G will be a big deal. I guess I have some homework to do.

Speaking of Apple, I just used Amazon Prime Day to pick up a Macbook. I have never owned an Apple product except for a cheap itouch and imac (I think it was called) that I used while setting up our forum IOS app years ago.

I am so sick of my laptops getting bogged down and painfully slow, when I rarely use them. When I am on the road and have to use my laptop to write my commentaries or send alerts, I have to prepare for it taking at least two times longer to get anything done. I am really hoping that a Macbook will be a better experience.

You can now sell your Apple stock, now that I have capitulated after all of these years. :D

Nice! I don't have one (yet?), but the wifey does and its pretty amazing.

I don't think the iphones from this event will propel the stock price higher, but I am very interested in what kind of profit margin the homepod has and if it will take market share from Amazon's echo.

AAPL set to get whacked today along with a few other beloved tech stocks. Will speculators use this day as a "gift" and buy more, or will the concentrated levels of stops overcome as it continues the journey to 100?

5G is overrated.

Still using a 2011 ASUS laptop and it's better now than day one (Vista vs Win 10).

I remember very well, when Apple dove in early January 2019, after that late 2018 sell off for the market. It turned out to be a pretty good time to buy...

Beloved AAPL bouncing along the 50 DMA. Not saying it's a bad stock, but it is evidence of money moving to other areas (banks and oil).

Those who are buying it because "5G is the future" - the internet was the future in 2000, but the Nasdaq still crashed.

The wife and I both have the iPhone 6s Plus. Batteries have been changed out once already. Looking at the iPhone 12 mini for the wife and the max for myself. Probably early next year. I need to spend a few hours cleaning up the phones; emails, texts, pictures, etc.
To bad as a very minor stock holder I couldn't get the phones at cost.

Depending on your carrier, you may be able to trade in the 6s to save a good chunk on the 12s.

Maybe, but not planning on it. We have ATT and my screen has a small crack in the top corner but the wife's phone is in pretty good shape. We'll see what happens early next year.

AAPL has been underperforming the S&P 500 since late August. Chart below is S&P vs AAPL.

It seemed like yesterday when people watched AAPL to see where the market was going.

Wow, no sooner did you post that, Apple broke that trend...

Then I guess it's time to watch Apple for leadership again. Maybe it will take the market with it now that the big Tesla joining the S&P 500 event is over.

"Oscar" (livewithoscar) has had a target of 138 for Apple for weeks (maybe months?)

His 2020 target for Tesla was 697, and bitcoin 27,000 (that was made much earlier in the year.) Not bad. FYI, his 2021 target is 35,000, but this is the wrong thread for that.
